I add 10 ml's to a litre of apple cidar vinegar. I also use raspberry cordial, very diluted. Chamomile tea is good for respitory infections. Boil the tea and let it cool right down, soothes their sinuses. Yeah eucalyptus is also quite good. Splat- Which aisle in the shopping center would I find the citric acid? Never heard of it before. I agree the colony set up is quite good. Nest boxes may be a little close together. I used to colony breed also.

But when a young immature bird has babies their are so many problems that occur. They may breed young in the wild but the problems would still occur wouldn't they? If we can stop these problems I dont see why we wouldn't.

I agree. Ply wood is as good as any more melamine to make the cages. Mice proof bird wire is also needed. Many other things needed. Maybe try buy a wire cage from crazy clarks or somthing.

I have never heard of a 12 week old budgie parent. It is still just a baby it should not be breeding at that age, it is no where near old enough.

How do you know the hen is feeding the cock and not the other way around? Are you breeding in an aviary with multiple pairs of birds and nest boxes together? Or is each pair in its own cage with one nest box?> As Jimmy said, quarantine first.

If the seed is Black & round, it’s probably what used to be called Rape & now has been changed to Canola…because of the connotations of the word “Rape”. It’s a member of the cabbage family, it’s pretty safe, it is very high in oil & if they ate large amounts it may be a problem, but I don’t think there’s much danger of that. Canaries love it…if it’s not round the only other seed that is black that I know is Niger, it’s a long thin seed, again it’s not a problem.The forum will not allow me to edit posts I do not know why.
