what colour is is ring and when did you buy the bird/
  2. oh yes I did sorry about that. thanks Dean.
  3. yes hes been treated with ivermectin. I thought coccidosis because he has many symtoms. He sits on the floor picking at seed, he is weak and lethargic. What else could it be?
  4. what kind of green is the hen? Light green dark green or olive? Unless the green is split for blue all chicks will be green. all will be normals. If the hen is light green you will get - all dark green normals If the hen is dark green you will get - 50% dark green 50% olive normals if the hen is olive you will get all dark greens. If the hen is split for blue then you will get some blue chicks.
  5. more birds
  6. Hi. I am currently on vetafarm and coccivet is 15 dollars for 50 ml. It says 15 ml to 10 l but obviously I could divide it and use half, even a quarter of the amount? Is coccivet a preventative medication or does it only cure the disease? Basically is it a preventative medication or a cure only? Lets say 1 bird in the aviary has coccoidois. If I treated all aviary birds with it, would they all be immune to the disease? If so, how long for? Thankyou.
  7. did you use ivermectin? If you do not have that you can try vaseline or olive oil. it drowns the mites and suffocates them. Works a treat.
  8. Hi. I have an 07 male pied. He is fluffed up. I have since moved him to the hospital cage. He has no dirty vent, no liquid seeping from eyes or nose. He eats seed and drinks water on his own. He seems out of energy and ddoesnt run around anymore. Usually he would be flying away from me in a second but now, as you can see, he lets me handle him. Somthing is not right and Im hoping someone may have some idea. It could be coccoidosis so Im going to see if I can buy coccivet. I have not had a adult bird die in about 6 months so I'm not sure. I realise you cannot diagnose the problem from where you are sitting but any advice would be appreciated. Currently he is drinking calcivet and I appled 1 drop to his beak. Pictures will follow. Here is the bird/
  9. okay Dave I will do that now. I thought the same thing.
  10. day 16
  11. If you wanted to you could put the young babies in a small flight cage until they mature. That is what I done, saves you buying a whole new aviary.
  12. day 15. Tiny with mates.
  13. The babies have moved on into the flight cage with an elder male now. i will get better pictures later.
  14. I've had hens nest in seed dishes and in quail nests etc.. they can find a place to nest if they want to. Been watching a few bird documentaries and some of the things are amazing. wild budgies breed more than 2 clutches a year also.
  15. actually I've been doing a bit of googling since my last post and I retract that opinion. I've seen many posts on various forums saying apple trees are fine, the wood and the bark. Not the apple seeds though. Take a look at this - http://www.mdvaden.com/bird_page.shtml Apple is on the right column. Also various other posts suggest apple branches are indeed safe.
  16. I just viewed a documentary and now I know wild budgies breed from the age of 12 weeks. very interesting seen as though in captivity they are not bred until 6 months +.
  17. Never used them before but if someone put them as toxic on the forum I would go with that.
  18. yes because the hens fight for the highest best looking box. Making them all the same height and looking the same, the hens will have less chance of fighting. I cannot say they wont fight because colony breeding generally does have alot of problems with it. Personal opinion really.
  19. I am quite worried about it. over 150 deaths in Mexico alone, They think their is no hope keeping it out of australia.

I would not be able to make them Daz but I like looking at the plans and it may help other people. If its no problem or inconvenience it would be good.
  21. I agree. I buy it buy the 10 L, because it is used fairly quickly and it would as Macka said, cost a fortune buying it in little quantities.
  22. I use it because a friend of mine says its good for preventing diseases such as megabacteria. I am going to use 14 drops, 2 ml's and see how I go. Maybe up it to 5 ml, it depends.
  23. Lets say my water ph level was average. How many drops of acv per litre is recomended? Thankyou. 1 ml per L, how many drops is that?
  24. Here is a post I made, with a few quotes taken from it. Quote by Norm I use ACV a couple of times a week, as I’ve seen it recommended in lots of places, it’s hard to judge if it really is as good as they say, as Macka says I use 10mls to the Litre. I use it myself sometimes it tastes yucky as it’s extremely acid, but then not everything that tastes good is good for you. At least as far as the birds are concerned I think the fact that their water is acid would inhibit bacteria at least. The thing with Raspberry cordial is that it is supposed to be the highest content of true Raspberries that’s important, it’s very hard to find, I didn’t find anything more than 25% Raspberries, as most of it in stores is artificial flavoured which is useless, I would use the normal one myself. Quote by drnat My budgies love diluted apple cider vinegar water, mostly they bathe in it, but drink it as well. 10ml/L.
