Oh I didnt know that. My bird coo's at all hours of the day. Its fun to watch because he sticks his head right up and does it, similar to king quails.

Would the rspca put her down? Taking her to the pound or vets they would put her down. She lives a normal life. Wakes everyone up with her cooing but you get that. I got the quails to keep her company, but she talks to the dove and budgies also.

Today's New Budgies
Woah look at them all. If they are going into their own aviary, well away from any other birds then they can be quarantined in the aviary.

Thanks all it was not an easy competition to win. Thankyou to Bird haven for starting the comp.

Aviary Clean
it cannot fly. It is in with 2 quails. The door on the hutch is left open during the day so he comes and goes as he pleases. My mate found him a year ago outside his house with a broken wing. The rspca will not accept him and no one wants a dove that cannot fly. so he lives in my aviary.

Aviary Clean
Hi today I moved all the birds into a small breeding cage. hosed out my aviary. Bleached it. Sprayed it with ail. Then I sprayed the birds with A.I.L I then gave them all a drop of ivermectin I then clipped the doves wings. Sprayed him. Cleaned his hutch and put him back in. After a few hours I put the birds back in the aviary. Pictures of the aviary and birds. And the aviary The hutch. And the breeding shed

Oh,well There Is Always Next Time!
King quails do not fly, only when spooked. They will not nest in a budgie nest box. King quails lay eggs every 2 days I beleive. and 16-19 days to hatch

I will take you up on that Daz. I have always wanted to see your birds. How long do you reckon a 1kg bag of budgie starter would last? 4 pairs of breeding birds. I found it for sale $9 dollars. Also found aristo-pet avi-cal. Similar to calcivet. Have you ever used this? What is it like? Do you know of any shops in the brisbane ipswich area that would be relativley cheap on bird meds and supplements? Thanks heaps.

Oh,well There Is Always Next Time!
quails can breed in upturned plant pots with abit of straw in them, They really dont need a nest. They lay eggs all throughout the aviary and then roll them together into a nest.

Oh,well There Is Always Next Time!
I think she means the nest box. How do quails get to the nest box? If the nesting box is high up then the quails will not be able to get to it.

Is vetafarm a cheap place to buy things? When you include the 5 dollars postage, is it worth going to vetafarm? I've never seen wormout gel available in stores but on vetafarm its 21 dollars plus 5 dollars postage for 100 mil. Can pet stores or other websites beat that? Who here uses vetafarm? Are their prices relatively fair?

thankyou renee and kaz. Is good vegetables and soft food every day a good enough substitute for vitamin supplements? If I give my birds all the different veggies is their a need for vitamin supplements?
