Survey**** If You Had A Really Good Bird With Feather Cyst
My understanding of feather cysts is that they are more prevalent as the density of feather increases on the birds we breed. Feather cysts I also understand are more common in some family of budgies, I try to stay clear of them. But I have a tailless wonder (Luvie) who I will be breeding with but when I do the pairings I will make sure I put him to short finer feathered hens.

Have You Ever
Never! Thank goodness. Have you ever snorkled on the Great Barrier Reef?

Karma
I agree with so much you say, especially

Karma
I've always believed their is a balance in Life, which I call Karma, and to that end I am a firm believer that if you do the right thing then good things will happen to you, or at least many more bad things won't happen. By the same token I also believe if your internal balance is "out" then you attract challenges which is the Universe's way of reminding you to get back on the right track. What do you think?

okay, well I have found the default album and want to organize the photos and allocate them to different existing albums. It says you can select a photo (or photos using the Ctrl key) and drag it and pop it into the album you want. BUT when I try to do that I get a pop up message: ? undefined. What is that supposed to mean and why won't it do what it says it does?!

The Chronicles Of Luvie
This morning I awoke and as usual took my morning coffee over to the aviary to check on everyone and I was heartbroken to see little Luvie on his own in the middle of the aviary floor looking very glum. Lou Lou, the tart, was off elsewhere getting chatted up by someone far more to her liking. I tutted to him and he perked up and then waddled over to some other budgies and tried to make out he was part of their conversation. But they gave him the cold shoulder and once again he was on his own. Luvie all on his lonesome: You may ask, What does it matter? He'll be right in a few days! Well no, he won't. I don't know whether it's 'cause he has never grown a tail and doesn't fly around like most of my other budgies but Luvie is not the most popular of budgies and it is really sad as budgies are very social birds. SO, I have decided to give him another girlfriend and bring him inside. First job, scrub down the perches and bake them in the oven. A tip for beginners, don't forget them! Here's the clean cage with rather singed perches: As I looked around the aviary I realized that most of them are in breeding condition so choosing a gal for him wasn't too difficult. In the end I settled upon a lovely Recessive Pied hen I bred in 08 from a Manno x Manno pairing. She has already bred for me last year and most importantly she has a very sweet nature. I have named her Rose. A 'happy snap' of them together: I am considering letting them go down. More on that later!

A New (unwanted) Addition ...
There has been a tragic conclusion to my accepting that magpie chick. Although we took the cage outside and hosed it down and then dowsed it with AIL some nasties remained. We then proceeded to catch up all our canaries and bring them indoors to treat for Scaly Mites - and housed them in the 'clean' cage. It is easier to catch them up indoors than in their outside aviary. Ten days after we brought them indoors I found 4 dead canaries on the floor of the cage. Here's how they used to look:

Ring Question
Whoa! Would never have even suspected that those measures are in place Sadly there must have been a precedent for this to have come into effect. I guess that's why this year for the blue rings it isn't a 10 but (0 .... I had wondered about that! This is common knowledge Renee Phew! Not giving away any secrets then!

How Important Are Breeding Records
You are Not alone GB! For some reason I had a *** of a time with ring codes - same number but different year and it wouldn't accept the entry .... so like you I made my own system Entering the ringcode would you put for instance R & T 269 07 and R & T 269 08 ?It works like that Thats how I do it too Well you guys are way smarter than me, I just followed what I was supposed to do and then decided it had to be my fault and gave up and created a system that worked for me!

Update Of My Aviary And Birds
That is a very succinct way of describing the difference. Colony or Aviary breeding is when you pop some nest boxes into the aviary and let your birds choose the nests and their mating partners. Cabinet breeding is when you separate the sexes prior to pairing up and then you introduce your selected pair into a breeding cabinet with nest box so you in effect you are controlling the mating process and the outcome of the chicks' genetic make up. I think Dean NZ is a member of a Show Budgie Club ... maybe you need to do a google search and take it from there. Of course if you do join a Budgie Club you may be even more "pressured" to go down the cabinet breeding path than anything any one has said here.

Feeding Fresh Veggies And Fruits
In hot weather salmonella and ecoli is always a concern because fresh produce can go off. Just to be on the safe side I give my budgies fresh vegies in the evening. Budgies tend to eat and drink at dusk and then again at dawn (more or less) so if you give them anything in the evening it is usually all gone by mid-morning the next day. I see you're in Turkey and being Northern Hemisphere I am not familiar with the weather you are experiencing right now ... But just to be on the safe side try doing a search for Droppings Analysis, here's a link to one of them: http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=22914 Best of Luck!

Black Beak In An Adult Budgie
I wouldn't worry too much about it. Sometimes I've seen it in my budgies ... I've never considered it a symptom of anything nasty.

Photobucket Account
Well in addition to the main "Budgies" folder going from 7+pages of photos to "Folder Empty" I am not able to change my password ... in so far that when I enter my old one I get a message saying that that is not it! So in effect my Photobucket account is compromised. Amazing, I found the default folder!
