for all those tests what would an estimated vet bill be?I have tried to get some clear photos of him and his poo but there coming out to blurry even when i adjust my position and the camera. Im going to ring the vet at 8:00 we though he was going to lose his battle just before, he was on the floor sleeping and I was stroking his head but then he saw the corn I had for him and he went for it as if he hadn't eaten in weeks. His poos have changed dramatically instead of normal colouration and lumpy they have turned more black in colour and there very moist there not runny just moist. Does the black colour mean hes not drinking enough water?I have had a closer look at the poo on the pirch and when the light shines on it it goes a dark forest green colour and it has whitish grey parts in the centre Get a sample of his poop and spread it over a piece of white paper - is it black? if so then he has bleeding in his digestive tract. if its browny-green then its a better sign. To me, it sounds like he has Megabateria which lays dormant in the body until the immune system is compromised by sstress or a secondary infection at vet will take a poo sample and will be able to test for the fungi/yeast under the microscope. I did the test on the white paper and the colour is green - brown so thats better then him bleeding inside. What is an average recovery success rate 50/50 lease.... more?

His poos are the same colour as normal just a bit bigger, they don't smell and there not really runny

Well Blue made it through the night, I didn't get much sleep though and I am going to ring our vet this morning to see if there is anything they can do if it's not too late. He is looking a bit more alert this morning.His symptoms this morning are:* Sleeping (Can someone send me a photo of a sick budgie that has it's head tucked under its wing cause Blue hasn't exactly got his head under his wing)* He has a pooey bum ( Should I cut the lumps of or are there other methods I can use)* Fluffed up (Is this due to temerature and should I increase the watt as he has a 25 watt bulb at the moment)Apart from that hes eating heaps and his crop feels good and he hasn't lost any weight over night.Should I keep going with the ACV in his water?Is it a wise idea to continue offering Blue fruit and veg?

I wasn't trying to sound as if you guys had to save his life, I am just hoping that is whats wrong with his and it isn't too serious. Thats for all your help he is resting up now and I have given him the ACV in his favourite water dish and made sure I have a spare light bulb close at hand if it blows at some point. Thanks again for your help, I will keep you up dated no matter what happens.

He drank some of it so hopefully he will perk up a bit in the morning, I have moved his cage up into my room were it is quiet. He hasn't worked out that the white dish has the mixture in it and will only take water when I put the old dish from the big cage in so I think I will swap the water dishes around until Blue is feeling better. Hopefully that will help him What does the mixture do anyway?

Will the mixture keep like can I put it into his water dish and leave it in there till the morning and then put some more in or is it a once of thing

My neighbours went out and got me some Apple cinder viniger what do I do with it like how much do I mix into his water??? I live with my Grandparenst so I don't think he would have run out of food by anyway unless Molly was being her bosy self and pushed him out

Been to nieghbours they said they would go to the shop and get some hes back up on his perch again but I don't know wether he will last the night

She was until Grandma noticed him not being his usual self and then rang me and I told her to put him into the hospital cage that was yesturday morning he is eating heaps, the seed is being husked properly. Were do you get Apple Cider Vinegar? from the local super market??Also the seed seems to be starting to stick to his beak again, I haven't noticed him vomiting but each time he puts his beak into he seed it sticks to his beak. He has been preening himself which seems good, how do you tell if he is not liking the lamp being on him?? and is there any extra care I can give that will help him in any way. Im going down to the shop tomorrow to get some more seed and to get the Apple Cider Vinegar / real raspberry cordial. Which works the best and can anyone tell me a name of the real raspberry cordial as I have never heard of real cordial before.Also Im going to ring my avian vet in Thornlands in the morning as Grandma rang an avian vet somewere else and see of I get a different answer and try and book him in for a vet appointment cause Im really not wanting to lose another budgie as Blue is my favourite

Will the light bother him if I leave it on all night, he will be able to sleep with a light on?

His crop feels fine and the seed is not sticking to his face anymore as the seed was a bit damp from the moisture from the corn Grandma had put into it

Do I shine it on him or on the blanket covering the cage?

Um my birds have never been sick before so I don't have anything except for mite spray and worming stuff. He is not skinny he has always been a normal weight for a budgie even now. He has seed on his face not sure if he has been vomiting it looks more like un eated seed to me he has had some corn and hes drinking the normal amount of water.

my grandparents looked after him and Molly and told me on the phone yesturday that he wasn't looking well so I told them how to make up a hospital cage with the small cage I had in the garage. Molly isn't sick she's fine but blue is very fluffed up hes chirping a little and eating heaps and Im offering him lots of veges and water will organise a light for him. The vet was avain vet but they told me grandma that when a bird shows signs of sickness it's too late. Does he need the light on 24/7

I went away for 2 weeks and got home today and BLue is really fluffed up, a really dirty bum and a messy face he still chirping a bit but the vet said it was too late for him and won't do anything about it. I have made a hospital cage covered three sides and the roof, should I put a light on him or should he be fine please tell me things i can do to save him.

I have to point out that wiring the bottom of the cage doesn't always put a stop to the mice and rats, I would suggest as previously mentioned to raise it off the ground
