Here is a photo of Blue. The budgie u can see in the background is Blue's old friends who had to be put down due to cancer. Blue, Im hoping to breed him one day with a recessive pied hen. I change Blue cage around every week (new natural perches etc) when i clean it out. Will changing the cage around weekly distract her from nest making???

yah i took the advice of others and got the largest cage i could afford but i don't want to breed budgies just yet. But can i still put a baby hen with my male?

I have a violet spangle cock called Blue, his best friend died a few weeks ago and i would like to introduce a baby female to him. Will they breed (lay eggs) without a nest box and what about the female being only a baby???? So help would be great as i really want to get him a female friend!!!!

The only reason i didn't make them bigger was because they went blurry when i tried to enlargen them the first time. Does anyone know how long you soak soup mix for?

Yah eukalypt leaves are great for many things: 1. A toy for your budgies to chew up 2. Great natural food source 3. Great for building up a budgies immune system 4. Budgies (mine anyway) like to bath in the wet leaves 5. Great way to get rid of mites in the nest box 6. When the bird preens itself after eating the leaves it rubs the oil through its feathers and gives it a nice healthy shine as well as a great way for keeping mites of our birds without using the spray stuff from pet shops.

How long do you leave soup mix to soak????? Cause i just got some today also. :sad:

Well want sort of grains are you suppost to give a bird if you can't give him bread either.

I feed Blue muslie cereal and he loves it but recently on this site I found out it's bad and should never be feed to budgies, is this true and should i stop feeding it to him?

Hi everyone, Cara here. As promised here are some pics of my budgies, Auzzie and Blue. Auzzie on the first day we brought him home, hes sitting on my bed playing with my phone jewellery. ( 6 weeks old) Auzzie and Blue 1 week before Auzzie had to be put down. See his tail feathers are growing out to the side, if anyone has this problem its either an ingrown feather which is what the vet first thought or it could be cancer.

Hi my name is Cara and I have just recently joined Budgerigar breeders club INC.. I had two beautiful budgies called Auzzie and Blue but sadly Auzzie had to be put down due to an ulcerated tumour which we didn't realise he had until the vet pulled out some feathers. Blue on the other hand was fine for two weeks doing all his normal stuff (preening, eating, playing, talking etc) but he is not as talkative any more or playful for that matter, hes still eating, drinking, and preening himself. If any one knows if that if a sign of fretting could you tell me and if so should i introduce another budgie to him?????? I will post some pics of Auzzie and Blue soon......
