More Budgies?
The taming thing doesn't really bother me as long as they know that they have to go back into thier cage at night. I have an alright bond with the two budgies I have at the moment they know when it's time to go back to thier cage for the night. I saw a three cinnamon winged budgies today at the Redlands Pets in Capalaba and a violet one too couldn't tell them apart gender wise, but the budgie i was so amazed with was the massize yellow and green budgie in a seperate cage from the others it was huge estimating about 2 1/2 - 3 pet type budgies size or bigger it was huge the biggest budgie I had ever seen.

Montie: December '05 To July '08
I know what you mean, when I noticed blood on poor little Auzzie's wing I wanted to take him to the vet but Grandad said he would be alright and wouldn't pay the vet bill because It's just a bird. In the end I asked my Grandma and she and I took him to the vet we didn't think anything would be seriously wrong as he had no signs of any sort of sickness except for a bit of blood but it turned out far worse than that. Buts that what a lot of people say, why bother it's just a bird they don't live forever.

More Budgies?
I'm thinking about getting a few more budgies as I love them so much. I also looking around for the biggest indoor cage possible. When having a flock of budgies together is it best to have the same amount of females to males or doesn't it matter?? Just wondering because I love seeing everyones budgies all together in a big flock its really beautiful especially when there all sitting together on the play gym chatting away to each other.

Under Weight Or Over Weight
How do you tell when a budgie is under weight? Is it when you see that line on thier chest?? and if so what do you do to get them to put on weight?? Also what does an over weight budgie look like and how do you get over weight budgies to lose the weight??

Life Of Molly
Well we tried the gliding excersize today. She wen't pritty well for a bird that doesn't fly. But unfortunately Molly lost her biggest flight feather in the process. Thats funny too because that exact same feather last time on the same wing also fell out while trying to glide.

Game: Go Fish
Go Fish Do you own more that 100 budgies at this present moment?

Bones In The Wing
Yes It's all very good information but I'm still in the process of hand taming her so she would try to fly away from my hand as it is.

Bones In The Wing
Well Molly isn't by herself she has a male friend too with her. I didn't mean to sound as if I was getting angry about the clipping thing, I have ceiling fans also but I always double check to make sure there not on in any of the rooms. But I will try Sailor's suggestion.

Bones In The Wing

Bones In The Wing
We got Molly from a pet shop in Slacks creek, she has her own forum called 'Life of Molly' which I have just updated with new pics. Her whole life story is thier from when we found her. I don't cut my birds wings as I think it's unfair and not natural for them, also I've heard that 20 mins of flying time a day can help prevent cancer when thier older.
-
Bones In The Wing
No she doesn't only Blue does it. I didn't clip them when we found her huddled in the corner on the cage floor she had had her wings clipped back way too far and a few months on there only just growing back.

Bones In The Wing
A thought has just occured to me. Molly is going on 3 1/2 months old. She doesn't use her wings as she can't fly without her flight feathers. For the past months she hasn't been able to fly and I was wondering if her not being able to fly would effect the way the bones formed in her wings also because she hasn't been able to fly would her wings take extra time to re-develope the strength in those bones for her to be able to fly???

Fresh Food
Yah I make sure that all thier fresh food and thier eucalyptus etc is washed 2 - 3 times before I give it too them and also I worm them monthly like it says on the back of the bottle. I just wormed them yesturday too. But everything seems to be fine with Blue now maybe it was just the sudden change from cuttings to the fresh food. I don't now.

Birdie Question

Life Of Molly
(If these photos are too big I don't now what I did cause I definately changed the size to 640) Molly sitting in the fruit and vegetable dish Molly throwing her treat (grain bread) around the cage Molly looking down from her perch at the dish she managed to un-clip that's now lying on the floor of the cage: Little  she is... Molly being all friendly to Blue Molly preening herself And Finally well I had to put at least 1 photo of Blue somewere in amoungst Molly's pics. He might feel left out otherwise http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll305/K.../P1010012-1.jpg Update:Well for anyone who doesn't now we had big problems with Molly's wings not growing properly well finally shes got some big white flight feathers 2 infact on each wing. Soon she'll be flying around the house with Blue. They both have recently started to chew the paper on the cage floor which has gotten me worried about the breeding issue. So I'v posted another topic called Birdie Question that has all the facts about the problem. So i'm going to replace the newspaper for somehting different. Molly and taming don't mix, although she doesn't bite she hates coming out still even though it's been three months since we got her. Well thats all for now.

Birdie Question
Could I try something like shreaded newspaper, what other stuff could I use. My Grandad is a neat freak and when I had rats we used to line the bottom of there cage with saw dust and they got it everywere he used to get really angry about it.

Birdie Question
I have a big problem, well i think it's a problem. Here it is okay a few posts ago i told you about Molly ripping up the newspaper in the bottom of her and Blue's cage. Well today I noticed both Molly and Blue ripping up the paper. Also during certain parts of the day Blue tries to get really friendly with her well I'm thinking this will be a problem. There's no nesting box or anything that they could consider using as a nest and Molly's not even 12 months old yet. Is this normal for male and female budgies, if not does anyone have suggestions cause I don't want Molly having babies shes only a baby herself. I herd also that female budgies can become stressed easily when I male tries to get too friendly and she doesn't like it. At the moment Molly's chirping and Blue's call to her from the computer room. They also spend a lot of time feeding eachother and preening each other. Any suggestions as to what to do in this situation???

Life Of Molly
No one seems to have an answer for the above question so I'm a bit worried now. I finally got some more photos of Molly and Blue yesturday and yah for Molly she has two flight feathers on each wing now she just needs a few more and then she can fly around with her friend. Here they are.............. Molly and Blue together

Fresh Food
No I don't feed them that stuff. They get carrot, zuchini, peas, corn, beans, broccoli, capsicum etc. Lettuce and celery don't really have any nuitritional value there really only made up of water.
-
Fresh Food
Cool thanks, but why would it only affect Blue and not Molly???
-
Fresh Food
I gave my budgies clippings (bottle brush, eucalyptus etc) which they had for a few days and then I gave them fruit and vegs and noticed that with the intake of fruit and vegs thier droppings get extremely runny. Is this normal with the intake of fruit and vegs and I have noticed It's only one bird that the fruit and veg has taken the affect on. Is it normal??? They love there veges too much to not give it too them.

Hi All
When I first rescued my bird Molly I was told she had rickets too it's nothing to be worried about Molly is a very silly bird shes loves to rip things up and throw it around the cage as well as unclip feed containers and toys. Shes quite normal except for her feet but she does everything a normal budgie does so I wouldnt worry about it to much. By the way he/she is a great looking bird.

Life Of Molly
Well Tweety is going on 4-5 yrs old and everytime I see her she always has a white or pink cere and its not that she is a different mutation like Albino or lutino when there hard to tell the difference between the males and females but seriously her cere is either white or pink.
