  4. As you guys probably already know Molly's best friend/ boy friend is a very sick little boy. She's driving my Grandparents nuts with her calling to Blue but she never gets an answer. Molly now has 5 flight features on each wing and is able to fly from the cage to the window ledge and back and from the floor to her cage but she hasn't mastered the whole steering and landing without a thud yet.
  5. Very cute, your just like me. I found my baby Molly on the floor of her cage and felt sorry for her too. Her whole life story so far is documented on this site in Bringing home a new budgie under "life of molly"
  6. His poos have gone back to dark green with white part in the middle. Is this normal, I have just given him his third lot of medication
  7. The colour may be back to normal but the size and watery content isn't back to normal but im not expecting a miracle straight away
  8. Yah well she is an avian vet it says on her card and on her badge. I don't have a job so therefore I don't have money to spend only my $10 pocket money every week. I have told them that I am willing to give up horse riding until the bill has been paid of and they are thinking about it. 1 lesson costs $44 and I go every 2 weeks. He has improved he is much more livly this morning while I was putting the cream on his bum and also giving his oral. This poos have changed from dark green to mostly white with some dark green in the middle. Could this mean hes not eating enough?
  9. Thats good then cause I had it on him all day today and all last night aswell
  10. okay so that means during the day aswell?
  11. Yah I will keep it on all night, what about during the day time? Also how long will he be needing the heat lamp?
  12. Well thats Blue done for the night, he has had his oral medication and he has the stuff in his water and Grandma helped me to put the cream on around his vent. Hes had his cage cleaned also and is sound asleep under the warmth or the heat lamp. This morning i noticed he wasn't clasping the perch with either of his feet but after having the gunk removed from his fethers and vent he is gripping fine, It must have been paining him to move to much. How long should I keep the heat lamp on him for?
  13. Yah she checked for canker but he didn't have it as he wasn't vomiting and she said that was one of the main symptoms of canker. Were not sure about Mega as it requires expensive tests and Grandad didn't want to pay that amount unless we tried the stuff the vet prescribed.
  14. I will just quickly change the paper then, I wanted to change his perches as they have poo on them but I will wait until tomorrow for that Wait.... I still need to get him out anyway because I have to start his meds today
  15. Different one Also he has gone back up to his perch, should I put him in the shoe box now and clean his cage?
  16. No this is my birds proper vet. I didn't think 4 was senior either
  17. No she not sure what it is but he got stressed out at the vets and was sitting on the floor of his cage after being at the vets.
  18. Just come home from the vet and turned Blue's heat lamp back on. But I went in there a few minutes ago and he's sitting on the bottom of his cage sleeping so I rang the vet back and asked what I should do and if it was normal after being stressed out. She said it was and to turn of the heat lamp and remove food and water and put him in a dark area/ cover him so that he settles down a bit. I have done that but how long should I keep him covered as I need to clean his cage? and also I don't have another cage to put him in so could I put him in a shoe box like i did with Molly this morning? will this stress him out again? I don't know what i should do I need some advice
  19. Well we went to the vet. The vet told us that because Blue is nearly 4 (a senior) they don't like giving antibiotics to older birds as it can effect there health in a bad way. It cost us $57.00 and she cleaned and cut away Blues yucky feathers. His vent is quite red and swollen but he should be more comfortable she told us that I have to wash his vent twice a day with warm water on a cotton bud and aply vasalen cream on it once a day, she also gave me a sachet called Protexin that I have to add to 1L of water and give to him daily and she also gave us Baytril oral solution which I have to give him 0.1ml twice daily. So hopefully it will perk him up a bit. Hes not allowed green vegetables until he is better and he is not allowed in with Molly until he is better but they are allowed in the same room together. She ruled out any bacterial infection due to Molly not having any symptoms even though he had been in with her while he was sick. He has been a bit shaken having his vent features cut of and is now resting under the heat lamp in my room. I always thought that budgies life span was 7 - 14 years not 4 - 5 years.
  20. whats that? can you get it from pet stores or the vet? What does it do? So do I get him out of his cage and do it and then put him back in again? Should I try and do it as fast as possible to not stress him out?what about his feet? They have poo all over them should I try and clean them up as well? and if so what with?
  21. Thats what I did, her cage is all done. Now for Blue, how do I clean is bum, do I just get him out and pull the poo of or should I cut it. Kaz said it was best to clean him up as he could re-infect himselfI would like to clean Blue's cage and wipe it down with ACV aswell should I put him in a shoe box as well or should I wait to clean his cage out after weve been to the vet? Also he isn't drinking a lot of water he is eating the corn I gave him which would provide some moisture but I really want him to drink some water so how do I go about getting him to drink or should I leave him and let him drink when he wants to?
  22. I have soaked eveything in disinfesctant and am now wipeing everything over with the ACV with the feed dishes should I rinse them after wipeing them down or will it be okay
  23. okay will do that after I have finished cleaning Molly's cagewould it be nessesary to replace the calcium bell and cuttle bone that was in the cage also
  24. Thanks for that advice will disenfect everything first and then wipe eveything down with the ACV. I managed to get Blue into an avian vet at 12:15 today. Hes sleeping again on his perch. His bum is quite red I was watching last night he seems really irritated by the poo being stuck to his features he tries to kick out at it. If there is any other advise I'm all ears to help my little baby pull through and to stop Molly from getting it. I read thats megabacterior was transfered from feeding each other and also via a budgies droppings. So will work out a way to clean Blue's cage again after the vet trip if we don't have to put him down. Hopefully not
  25. I have to ring a 9:00 my vet doesn't open till then and they close at 2 so I will try and get him in today. Also I am just about to clean Molly's cage, but Blue is in the cleaning/hospital cage. Can I put her into a shoe box while I clean the cage out
