  1. he is a grey green cinnamon normal The photo doesn't show it very well but I promise hes cinnamon
  2. I think I will probably put him with that bright green opaline hen, they will make a nice pair
  3. Well AV has shown you hers now here are mine. Unfortunately I wasn't quite as lucky as AV and was drawn second from last in the first two rounds so I didn't get any of the birds I particularly had my eye on but still some nice birds and I am so grateful to the long term members that were kind enough to do this for us At the end of three rounds there were two birds left so they did a lucky draw for the last two and I was lucky enough to receive a fourth so here they are:
  4. What a great idea! I love it :ohmygod:
  5. How big is the aviary? It really depends on size, whether you will have nest boxes in there, etc. I have housed budgies and tiels together with no problems in a large aviary with no boxes. Quails are always good of course.
  6. She looked just the same as the cinnamon until only a few days before that photo. Even today the cinnamon is starting to look more like a grown up budgie rather than hanging over the perch like a baby
  7. One of those made up things like seagulls exploding on panadol
  8. I actually think her sister the cinnamon will be better in the long run but she's nearly a week younger and was going through a real top heavy stage in that photo as her tail is still quite short and she hasn't filled out much yet, I look forward to showing her in January. And yes had a chat to a few of the older breeders who'd been doing it forever
  9. That one won't be hard to manually clean, one of the main things with a planted tank is disturbing the substrate as little as possible to allow the plants to spread of their own accord and turn it into a real garden, this is the sort of tank you would never have to take apart fully to clean, keep the glass clean and do a regular water change with a siphon at the same time and she's good as gold
  10. You could go the old cement and icing sugar mixture, that way if one does get out it won't hurt the dogs.
  11. Um so far ...nothing  We probably won't get them much, their grandparents spoil them every year so it's overkill if we go crazy too. We normally try and buy one larger thing rather than lots of small things, we have been tossing around the idea of a trampoline. They are 4 and 2
  12. As I suspected all along they were just slightly too young to really compete against the slightly older chicks. Plus we arrived to discover it wasn't a regular show but a tri-club show with over 200 birds and I was in the same class as champion breeders, so I really had no chance after that
  13. What the tank? Not at all  How do you clean your tank Jimmy?
  14. Being stainless steel it should be fine, it's the equivilent of what you use to eat off so it's not coated with zinc
  15. I ended up buying both
  16. I love the fact that Kaz knew exactly which one I was talking about
  17. Oh you can flat pack me that spangle guy
  18. If you are going to go to the trouble of blocking it off so carefully why not just use poison and wait about three or four days and then collect the bodies then check again after another few days, it's best to time it so that bodies will need to be chucked the day or two before rubbish day and rap them in newspaper and then in a plastic bag in the bin, Or the dogs could just have fun in the crawlspace, they're little dogs aren't they
  19. Do you know if the inos are cocks or hens? Personally I will always hold on to ino cocks as it gives more breeding options in the future
  20. She'll be prettier when she's healthy again trust me
  21. She has been bringing up a little bit of her feed each time I feed her (just a little) so I've been inserting her antibiotics into the tip end of the syringe with her food so that when I feed her the antibiotics end up right at the bottom of her crop where they hopefully will be absorbed fairly quickly and also less likely to be brought up if she regurgitates any of her feed
  22. I realised I forgot to give them their grass seedheads which I accidentally left out the frnt in the rain last night I'm sure they are devestated that they have to have blueberries instead.
  23. Bit like vampire budgies do you think birdluv?
  24. Gosh she has messed the brooder up though flicking handrearing formula all over the place, it's definately going to need a clean today!!
