  1. Oh yay Deb, it will be great to have the answers you have craved for so long
  2. It's not hard and you don't need to spend an arm and a leg either, just do a google search for baby gender selection and you'll get heaps of info;). Also make sure you have a high calcium/low salt diet. I have had lots of problems with calcium deficiency so my doctor has put me on a calcium supplement to increase my chances of a girl :thankyou: Check out this linkto my thread http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....;hl=baby+gender
  3. In that list above Sage is listed as toxic
  4. I sorry to hear that Carolyn, but I do agree that these things happen to a reason, as you say itis better for it to have happened now than in a few months time. Well with any luck we'll both be in the preggers boat together (fingers crossed for girls :thankyou: )
  5. Thanks Neat, I might try the rosemary (organic from my garden) in the nest box and see whether it works out, I'll let you know
  6. I was actually thinking of using native leaves like euc, bottlebrush, acacia and tea-tree as well as herbs, also that list doesn't have rosemary, anyone know??
  7. Thanks I saw that, it was just more whether it is okay to use them dried?
  8. I hae been thinking about capitalising on all the fresh growth at the moment by not only feeding leaves and herbs to my birds fresh but also drying someand storing for later use to place in the aviary in a little bowl as part of treats/sprinkle on veg in winter next year. Does anyone know if this is okay? I was thinking things like lemon scented tea-tree, parsley, etc. Also does anyone know if rosemary is okay for budgies? I am told it is an excellent deterent for fleas on dogs and cats and thought I might try it in my nest boxes to deter mites more naturally.
  9. Unfortunately she's not much good in a show cage as sh sticks the lip out but ah well
  10. I was wondering how long it would be before you spilled the beans  I hope they get their butts in to gear Carolyn, it's interesting that in my experiences with a few different care types in both my pregnancies(due to dramas during my first) I found the OBs the most useless :raincloud: If you ask me the family birth centre nurses were by far the most helpful and supportive.
  11. Well the final update is that her toes are almost straight, just the very tip of the worst one that is still wonky. Her beak is interesting she still tucks her bottom beak out when she is nervous and then other times it's fine, like a little kid biting her lip
  12. She already finished it Pearce, check out the link in Liv's post above your one
  13. That sounds great
  14. No worries I'm a stay at homemum so pretty much any time suits me, just shoot me a PMwhen you want to do it and I'lllet you know if I'll be around
  15. It'd be a great chance for you to see how I breed as well
  16. Elise if it is of any help you can always come and visit me one day and bring cookie with you and I'll have a look, you can see my birds then too
  17. I have just bought a big box of budgie goodies, feeders, coop cups, etc and it came with a few mirrors. Just wondering if it's okay for me to put the mirrors in the aviary or whether that can cause problems??
  18. Last Thrsday of January is the next meeting now as we have broken up for chrissy
  19. Except that this pet type hen has jumped the gun on the rest who have only just started laying in the last day or two (darn fertile pet types)
  20. Looks a bit like egg peritonitis to me but I would have expected her to be looking a bit ill if that was the case. I have a hen that has something like that which appeared during her last round of breeding, it turned out just to be a fatty deposit.
  21. Will do The main reason I was going to put it back was because the other hens eggs are hatching now so it would make for a pretty big difference in age and that's assuming the egg doesn't get so dirty its DIS anyway. She only started incubating it yesterday and the ino hen is now happily incubating her second egg in the nest box so what is a bigger risk, moving it now or DIS due to older chicks in nest?
  22. Well theoretically you would get grey green dom pieds and normals, possibly the blue series equivalents if the hen is split possibly grey wings if the cock is split. BUT as we know they could be carrying all sorts of odd things in the split or sex linked mutations so I'm guessing you got something funky or you wouldn't have asked
  23. She is pretty persistant though, she also tried to nest in the base of one of those rectangular flight cages that had my 'kindy chicks' in it. I can't understand how she could have found it comfy, she was squished in the pull out tray with the kindy chicks walking all over her head :bump:
  24. I have thought about it Liv but I have been told to resist the urge to get more birds at the moment since we are looking to move soon and I have to save my money :bump:
  25. The only thing there is a little pile of leaves and feathers that I leave there because the quails like to sleep on it.
