My Bush Budgies Breeding
Jess I reckon you should convert that picture to black and white and print it out and frame it. It would make a great picture for on the wall of your future breeding room

My Bush Budgies Breeding
As a baby they are very accepting of being handled anyway, much moreso than larger parrot babies. You will find that as long as you handled babies for about ten minutes a couple of times a day until they get close to fledging that's more than sufficient. Handrearing can be a fairly stressful experience for a baby to start withplus can come with it's own set of emotional problems. Have you read Deb's account of raising Roxy as a lone baby? Her experience confirms a decision I made quite a while ago to never raise a baby on it's own unless absolutely necessary. You may find that being a bush budgie it will have a more flighty temperament to start with which might be hard to get past.

My Bush Budgies Breeding
I still have three of the babies I handraised from the first round. They all got an equal amount of TLC. The oldest is fairly quiet but happy to be held and cuddled, the middle one would tear your fingers offif she got the chance and the youngest is a snugglepuss...

My Bush Budgies Breeding
It really doesn't make any difference with budgies, it's all down to their individual temperaments

I Won Another Trophy
Geez I wish I was closer, opportunities like that don't come up very often around here and when they do the long term breeders tend to get them before the beginners do.

Need some ideas on a aviary
My budgie aviary is inside my garage so I suppose that I do have but my outside aviaries don't. I reckon this was written in the days before every house had a cordless phone, my cordless goes everywhere with me

Decisions...
If it helps at all, if you decide to give it a go and then realise it was a bad decision I generally have aviary space available for almost any species either in a currently inhabited aviary (if species are compatible) or in an empty aviary so i don't mind being your back up plan Most of my medium-Large aviary birds (except for one galah and the IRNs) are tame so I spend alot of time with them even though they are in the aviaries, sometimes I just sit in there while they snuggle up I do a lot of wildlife rescue and bird rescue work for almost any species so if you decide not to take the bird I'd be happy for the lady to contact me

Opaline Red Rump
I know that Angelic Vampyres cousin (?) was looking for an opaline one, I can't remember if it was a cock or a hen he wanted as it was to be a mate for one he already had. Maybe PM her and see if he is still needing one Let me know what she wants for them
-
Opaline Red Rump
No licence needed for red rumps :laughter: As long as they haev their own aviary they would be fine
-
Opaline Red Rump
either way you couldn't put them with the budgies confidently. Regardless of whether they have nest boxes they still get hormonal in breeding season and MAY be aggresive to other birds.
-
Opaline Red Rump
They can be aggresive during the breeding season so I wouldn't house them with budgies :laughter: I do know someone who was wanting some though so let me know if you decide not to get them as I may know someone interested

What Sex And Mutations?
How long has she had them? That whitish blue cere is an indication of a hen out of condition and is a common cause of confusion for new budgie owners.
-
What Sex And Mutations?
Mauve recessive pied and YF1 skyblue opaline spangle, both hens
-
You Got To See This
:laughter: I bet your wife saw that on the TV yesterday morning We did one too elf yourself
-
What On Earth?
Is she fluffed up or anything else? You could give her a drop of calcium to the beak to help her out just in case

Human Grade Food Dye-
Hey all, I want to dye some cotton rope and wooden beads to use in some toys I am making and I am planning to use some home made food dyes(beetroot juice) but for blue, etc I was wondering if food dye would be okay? I plan to dye it and then wash thouroughly until the water runs clear and then dry before using it to make the toys...
