  1. What a pretty recessive pied, he's a beauty :hap:
  2. Pearce is that cheaper just for the product or cheaper including postage??
  3. We have puzzles coming out our ears :hap: They are all great ideas though, it's tough finding something that is both suitable and that they don't already have, I think they'll be happy though regardless of what they get
  4. I like the walky talkies but not sure whether my youngest is a bit small yet, given he can't even talk properly yet.... Maybe for my oldests birthday in June, by that time Max should be talking a bit better My mum is on the look out for a grip ball set for me, ifwe don't find one by the time we goon Wednesday we'll grab the ukelale for him :hap: Thanks all
  5. My oldest says we can't get either of those Liv because "We don't like guns, and we don't pretend with guns" :hap: Thanks for the ideas though,it seems my children are 'hopeless'
  6. Yeah my boys have a skipping rope, they tend to drag each other around by it though so I have to keep an eye on them :hap: I can't have those foam mat things as I'm allergic to them, I end up with a itchy rash if I touch them.
  7. okay, well maybe I'll add a few to their fruit and veg and see what they think :hap:
  8. I have a couple of extra tubs of meal worms that need to be used up and I'm wondering if anyone feeds them to their birds(budgie or not), are they beneficial, I would imagine they would be good for protein...
  9. I'm sure they probably are here too Chrissy but I am kinda 'out of touch' when it comes to electronic ganes and things of that sort, as I said I don'teven have a VCR or DVD so computer games are a whole nother level above that. My kids just want to be outside, rain, hail or shine, my oldest just got a japara raincoat off his nanna and he's looking forward to a rainy day so he can go out and play in it I just send them outand when they comes back wet and muddy they get changed and have lunch And then go out again until dinner :hap: GRIP BALL!!!!!! I had one too SW, that's a great idea!
  10. I've never even heard of any of those things!! Apart from that though my kids aren't really interested in anything TV related, we don't even have a VCR or DVD player :hap:
  11. A cheapish, easy foraging toy for larger birds are the treat balls they sell for dogs and cats that they roll around and the treats drop out, you can put things like sunflower seeds or pellets(if they eat them) and small gumnuts into them or if they get the bits out fairly quickly use tougher vegies that won't go off too quickly like carrot
  12. At this stage I am hoping to keep all my show babies and also a selection of pet types. In the case of the pet types I will breed for the pet market, selling almost all the babies (keeping a select few each year for future breeding) to assist with the costs of maintaining my flock in the initial years of starting out. In the first few years I'll keep all show babies until their potential becomes clear and then cull any which are totally unsuitable. I hope to have a base flock of about 100 birds eventually
  13. Tried to reply by your message box is full, I'll check today and let you know
  14. I went out to check my babes this morning and the oldest of the babies from my tufted cock/non-tufted hen is definately tufted!!! My hubby is charging up the camera so I promise baby photos ASAP!!
  15. We have picked out their mates Chrissy, they are two of the birds I won at the christmas raffle not long ago and are some of the best birds in my aviary, Jimmy's girls are being spoilt
  16. I was in the shops today and saw a little ukalale so we'll probably get him that as he loves music and singing. The boys have tons of books (like so many I had to get them an extra bookshelf!)
  17. I wish I had the money for something like that Splat. The thing I bought Alex cost about $25 so I need to stick around that price range Despite saying I wasn't getting them much this year this is the tally so far: Shared item: Basketball ring Alex(4): kids size wheelbarrow cool towel for swimming lessons educational pack(couple of computer games, a portable game with card insert things and a couple of work books) great value I thought furryville figurines (three packs, gardening bunnies, holiday pandas and rainy day ducks, like tiny bendable figurines with a family of animals) 3 animal puppets penguin figurine toy\ microphone for pretending Max: wheelbarrow towel for swimming 3 animal puppets dinosoar figurine toy microphone for pretending I have though about just giving all the puppets to Maxie to open(I wrapped each one seperately for extra fun ) but I'm a little worried that might cause problems
  18. I was packing up the pressies for the boys today and realised my oldest has a lot more than my youngest to open. Anyone have any good suggestions for a smart 2 year old who thinks he's older? One of the main reasons for the difference is that my oldest is getting an educational software pack so I'd like something along the 'educational' lines to make up the difference for my youngest. I have actually bought them almost identical gifts otherwise as they always want what each other has so it's easier if they each have their own.
  19. I have quails in my flight and I love the little guys, I was just deciding what I would do with them if I divided the aviary since then the kindy cage flight wouldn't be big enough for all of them.
  20. This is the site you need to be looking at: DEH Your bird falls into the category where youmust be able to provide a verifiable name and address for the person you purchased from
  21. No worries, at this stage I wouldn't expect to need to put any more than that in there anyway as I'm fairly low volume, by next season I should be in my new house (hopefully...)Another breeding room question does anyone have quails in their breeding area and do you thnk it would bother the birds?
  22. I meant it didn't matter whether I was able to get into the space or not as I would have doors which opened fully to allow me access, I'm now kinda rethinking my plans and might put the breeding cages somewhere else. Actually how many birds could I fit per 1/3 of the aviary? So the space would be 2.4m deep X 1m wide X 1.8-2m high(pitched roof) The other option is I might just use one end of the aviary as the kindy flight
  23. The exotic bird registers are more for high interest species such as macaws and african greys, the idea being to stop illegal importation of these sorts of very expensive species, chicks of these species should be closed rung and have a certificate showing where they came from. Conures don't fall into this category The licencing system Jess is referring to is the one handled by the DSE and covers native species, it is designed to ensure that species which may be vulnerable to collection from the wild for the pet market are provided a little bit more protection.
  24. Huh, just looked at my vet's invoice from my bird check up yesterday, it was actually only $24.75.
