  1. I thought SW and Elly had already told you what they were...that's why I hadn't repeated it
  2. I don't think your cage would be big enough regardless of the grate Jess. They need plenty of space to scratch and wander around
  3. I like microbats but I haven't had my shots so none of them for me for the time being. Mainly possums(ringys and brushies) around here and the odd bird
  4. Hey Splat I've got my hand in the air for when you cull spangles and normals Got my hand up for yours too Kaz but that's a bit harder to organise
  5. Do you feed them to possums UNa? I do wildlife care too but I've never tried them on the possums, just the lizards and birds
  6. :baby: Can't say I've ever been attacked by my quails :mallet: There aren't babies inside the eggs unless they actually sit on them, just like it takes a few days of a budgie hen sitting on her eggs before you can see anything start to grow.
  7. Yeah they really don't help keep it clean but I think they are cute and my kids love eating the eggs
  8. Maybe you could post a picture, many of my birds never get that whitish blue colour but the amount of brown crustiness just changes a little
  9. Oh yeah should have said there are five in my aviary but only one is a male
  10. Anything really, fine wire(mouse wire), perspex, metal, timber anything that doesn't leave a gap for them to get through
  11. I have quails in my aviaries and they get along fine. King quail will stay on the ground, I have five of those. I also have a bob white quail who is morelike a chook, he'll fly up and perch on the branches with thebudgies overnight, his best friend is the cockatiel, they snuggle up together every night for bed If you are lucky enough for your quail to have babies you will ave to block the wire along the bottom for about 25cm so they can't get through
  12. Definately a hen. The cere can be bluish along the bottom but it's the white around the nostrils that gives a hen away
  13. I have a piece of aviary mesh which I have folded to fit over the end of the vac nozzle because I'm paranoid
  14. Aww Jenene, sad but also exciting for the little guy to go to a new home. I'm sure you'll get updates.
  15. I used to keep them in the fridge, stops them from pupating and slows them down a bit too, might have to go back to doing that... don't put them in the back of the fridge though if it'sthe type that tends to freeze things, they don't do so well after they've been frozen
  16. Yikes Maesie that sounds crazy Incidentally that's the point that I'm at with the pantry moths at the moment. Inoticed alot of the meal worms have startedto pupate now and there is even one beetle in there so I'm going to stick them in a big tub with a new bag of food and let them breed up a bit, that way I won't have to buy them in the future
  17. I don't blame you Nat, it was a awful way to loose her too. Make your you wrap her up and pop her in the fridge, then you can decide in the morning.
  18. Are you goin to take her to the vet for an autopsy? (or if you have the stomach for it check for yourself what's inside the mass). Maybe it's justme but given the way it blew up all of a sudden I would want to know what caused it.
  19. Oh, she's beautiful Trish, she's really got the kelpie looks. I have a kelpie so I can't help but get a little teary eyed now Trish. Rest In Peace baby girl
  20. Can you see any sort of pus point on it (like the equivelent of the tip of a pimple), if you can and you really think you have no other option then you may need to sterilise a needle and lance it and see if anything comes out. I wouldn't suggest it though unless you feel that it is your only option, a vet would be my first choice. Good point RIP you need to know if it's air or fluid, if you think it might be air don't think about trying to lance it
  21. They have scratchy little feet so maybe it's foot scratched you and you got a fright
  22. I got them from Toys R Us, they were on clearance down from $12 something to $3.99 for the family pack which has about 5 of the critters and a few bits(like the gardening ones have a wheelbarrow, etc and the ducks have little umbrellas
  23. Those Furryville things I was talking about in the list are basically the same as Sylvanian families
  24. My hubby took some photos but then couldn't find the camera cord Hoping I'll find it today some time as I'm spring cleaning the house
