  1. Not making, just altering. IT's a two piece and for some reason the skirt fits but the bodice is about two sizes two big (despite being the same size as the skirt?!?!). So I'm removing the zip from the back of the bodice, reducing the size and putting loops and a ribbon on the back instead :hap:
  2. Hey guys got some interesting info from one of the guys at work here who is the government 'cat control' person, he deals with feral cats as well as new imports like these guys. Apparently despite what the aussie Savannah cat breeders say the Savannah is one of a group of recent hybrids including the Ashira which they are trying to ban from import. The Savannah cat breeders are on a good thing at the moment but it sounds like the government is making tracks to pull the rug out from under them by banning new imports.
  3. Further update! Just went and confirmed my cake design, ordered the extra flowers that I need for the cake and bought the fabric to finish altering my wedding dress, gonna be busy sewing tonight! :hap:
  4. Or you'll take them both We know what will happen don't we :budgiedance: :budgiedance:
  5. Actually on a similiar note you could see if you can get one of the tablets that they use to fumigate rabbit burrows. Seal all the entrances except one and through the tablet in and seal the last entrance. Same deal with making sure the birds are out of the way though and I'm not sure about residue with those :budgiedance:
  6. And they'd just go sleep and not wake up too, the only problem would be dead rat smell :ewwww: :budgiedance:
  7. It's fake so we can keep it forever!!!!Our gorgeous celebrant who is a close family friend has already organised all the paper work for us :budgiedance: he's fantastic :budgiedance:
  8. He is a spangle, identical to cloud but he is yellow face as well so the yellow comes through in his wings;)
  9. Our photographer is a friend who is a pro, he takes the most beautiful photos and he's especially good at people. He and his wife have all these beutiful photos of her and their little son(2) all over their walls at home, he'll do a great job and he wanted to do it which is even better!
  10. Hi all thought you might be interested to see the latest thing I have sorted out. I got the photos today of our wedding bouquets :budgiedance: This is my bouquet: Sorted out my fiances ring on the weekend and got my mum a STUNNING dress to wear (and scooped my dads jaw up off the floor after we insisted she model it when we got home :budgiedance: ) In the middle of finsihing cake design at the moment and doing little fiddly things like place cards. So much still to do!
  11. Didn't buy her she was a freebie due to being a gimp She's three years old so this is really the last chance I will get to see if she is capable of breeding and I have a number of other pairs I am starting over the next few weeks too so if she is struggling atleast I will have fosters available. Ozzie seems to have more of what is considered a proper wing (tips meeting nicely , etc) and she has a boofier head so hopefully they will bring out the best in each other in thier chicks but as you know these things are sometimes hit and miss and you just have to hope for the best.
  12. Well it was done on tarps! I believe they removed the food portions fairly early on in the process, I wasn't at KI so I didn't do it, I went to Heron Island and caught sharks with my bare hands instead
  13. And there is another reason not to do zoology On the kangaroo island field trip in third year they disect wallabies and then they have them for dinner!
  14. Roos aren't endangered that's the difference
  15. I know BC but we are having a fun little chat
  16. I would say it is a little pointless seperating the dove at this point. Make sure you give the aviary a good clean. Are any of the other birds looking sick?
  17. My other halfs not keen on it Derek but I'm quite fond of a good bit of roo. I have also eaten Wallaby, crocodile, feral goat and camel No cats but only because we didn't catch one, had we managed to get our hands on one the bloke we were with was going to cook it up.
  18. I have also had the pleasure of trying to catch a feral cat. I used to work as a vet nurse for the vet that did the pound work in my town. We would have feral cats in traps brought in and he would euthinase them. One day he was trying to get an angle on the cat to put the needle in nd the door came lose and she escaped. This was a real country feral cat too, the kind that weighs about 8kg and will chase you and bite you rather than running away. Three of us vet nurses got the fun of catching her, it was not pretty and I came home with dozens of scratches and a tube of antiseptic cream that night .
  19. That is true Kaz, also there is nthing stopping your birds from catching something from a bird outside the aviary
  20. Don't beat yourself up too muc, everyone makes sily mistakes sometimes. Atleast you have had the sese to try and work out what happened so it doesnt happen again. To answer your other questions, I keep a few old nestboxes on the floor of the aviary on their sides for my quails but logs or any other hidey hole will do, they like some straw or dry grass to nest in sometimes. The pigeon would be better off with some larger seeds but it will survive on budie
  21. Exactly Kaz Cost of spey-lots, cost of cull- 20c for a bullet
  22. How old were the grass clippings and how were they cut? There are two issues here. If the grass clippings were a few days old they may have been starting to grow micro-organisms on them which aren't good for your critters. If they were cut using a mower there may have been fuel or oil residue on the blades which has transferred to the clippings and poisoned them.
  23. Hey we've done pretty well here, 65 posts in less than one day!
  24. Do you have any photos? What exactly is the difference between a banded Australian and a dutch? I only ask because I have a number of birds in my aviary which I thought were dutch pieds but I'm happy to be educated
  25. Well it's slightly better than doing nothing Chryso, atleast that animal will no longer contribute to the increase in numbers. Often they desex males as they are easier and quicker, the problem is that even one male will chase down many females to mate with,
