  1. No light at all Libby, it's pouring here and so dark I can't even see the aviary at the back of the yard. Maybe they are just marveling at this wonderful precipitation that is so rare
  2. I just went outside to give the dog her supper and it's pitch black and raining (the dog was unimpressed with being put out for dinner) and the birds were out there in the dark chatting away like it was the middle of the day! Crazy birds
  3. Go the nude TV watching!!! That's the best part about living on your own, you can walk from the shower to the washing basket without any clothes on, as long as you have good curtains
  4. okay well then you have to say it diplomatically. Try "September is fine, but if you can do it any earlier let me know because I'm looking forward to setting my gym up" That way you aren't saying no but she might just decide to try and organise it earlier for you
  5. That's what I figured. I should have my breeding cages set up in the next week or two so I'll put them down then
  6. Hi all I thought some of you might be interested in a link to the box cams used at my work. At the moment the only occupied box is the sugar glider box, the ant cam only works during the day time. The first three are infrared and the ant cam is just a regular camera so it only works daytime If anyone is interested in details of these cameras I can ask nexttime I'm there. http://www.gould.edu.au/wildlifecams/index.asp
  7. Couldn't she put it in one of those storage boxes! It's your garage, why don't you just explain that you are getting renovations done and you need your garage back.
  8. You can get little infrared ones and also ones that have a switch which turns on when you ask it to. They use them where I work to watch inside possum nest boxes
  9. Unless my budgies have a pencil case I haven't seen it's definately not black texta So am I gathering from the fact that hardly anyone has any suggestions that this is a fairly uncommon occurance??
  10. No romises but if you are interested I'll ask :budgiedance: I'm not sure when thier work is being done but fairly soon I believe.
  11. I have personally stopped colony breeding due to issues BUT at the moment you have a MASSIVE aviary with only 8 birds in it. You are probably okay at the moment having the nest boxes in there but I would tak them out once you get more birds in there.
  12. Hey if you are getting a sink let me know. My parents are about to replace their laundry trough with a bench/sink so they might be happy to send their old one to a new home. I don't think it's actually that old I seem to have it in my head that it was only put in about 5 years ago. It's one of those stock standard white metal laundry cupboards with the deep metal trough and a small cupboard.
  13. I think no matter what paint you use you will have that problem AV. I would say seal well around the back door while you are painting so the fumes don't get through and then give it a few good weeks to air out before you put birds in. What about a nice pae mint green, still reflects the light but a little less stark :budgiedance:
  14. Sunnie's looks to have a wide band across the chest to me. Sunnie can we have a front on photo possibly?
  15. I don't unfortunately have a nice normal to put him with Norm, but after a discussion in another thread I am planning a boofy opaline for him Neat mine has blue feet, what does yours have Sunnie?
  16. That limestone looks a little aged to me, whereas that sandstone is new. They will both age of course
  17. It's pretty but expensive I believe, sandstone is a nice option, very similiar to limestone
  18. Natural limstone is pure limestone. be very clear when you buy that it is important bcause the fake limestone could make your animals crook, that way you should get the right info from them
  19. I would say that maybe the last one is also an opaline spangle, maybe that explains his strange wing marking
  20. Yeah Sunnie's has the clear area on the belly just like my bloke. Atleast he is dom pied and NOT one of those sneaky recessive critters
  21. Hey Sunnie, SNAP! This guy is supposed to be a double factor spangle too...
  22. Liv is right about the recessive pied, don't know what I was thinking...
  23. You have a blue normal and the yellow one is a dominant pied skyblue yellowface opaline
  24. This hen is nearly four so unless she turns out to be a particular good breeder this will be her last(and only) year of breeding. I may push it for one more year to get some more babies out of her if she does well or atleast let her lay and foster them on but I'm still short on time with her. I don't have any males with this feature though, any suggestions? The other hen I have has pale black 'spangle' type markings near her vent, they are both opalines. The other hen is an 06 bird so I have a little more breeding time with her, at this stage I am focusing on getting some chicks out of the grey.
  25. In that case you might just have to persevere until they are old enough to take her out and leave dad to look after them.
