  1. The hard part is getting the door shut while they are in there without them flying out. Try and find a cage with sliding doors. If you can hold the door open using just a little straight wooden peg attached to a bit of string then once they are in you can give the string a pull from the other side of the yard and the door will drop down.
  2. She took to it like a duck to water actually I was holding the nest box up to the side of the cage while I was deciding how to attach it best and she was trying to climb into it while I was attaching it I had to push her off the egg earlier so I think she will be a good sitter
  3. I'm still learning but personally I would pick Eddie, he has more blow han the other two just going on those photos.
  4. Did you see her throw th last egg out? She may have simply layed it off the perch, I had one do that the other day
  5. I actually put her in with the cock about a week after that photo so she was still very out of condition. Now about three or four weeks on and I have an egg so it doesn't take them long to get back into it once that nest box appears.
  6. She's just very out of condition in that photo. Either that or it's a VERY confused cock that lays eggs!
  7. Remember this grey girl: I have paired her with a big grey boy in the hopes that she would have a successful attempt at breeding. At this stage I have no idea whether they have managed well enough to actually fill the eggs but as of today she is sitting on her first egg I'm proud as punch of her so here's hoping we get some chicks. I'll candle them in about a week and see whether we have any blood vessels starting.
  8. That would be great, they look like they are a good size, have they got plenty of room for show types?
  9. They're great, where did you get them from?
  10. Where are you located? Most larger cities have atleast one after hours emergency clinic
  11. My new fridge arrived tonight Phase two- washing machine- happens Thursday night and phase three - dishwasher- hopefully happens Friday
  12. I have been told by quite a few breeders that it is very hard to keep the size up in inos in general and the ino/ino pairings are best avoided so you don't loose size on the resulting birds.
  13. Denise do your search again and click completed listings Then send the person that had an email as they might be putting more on
  14. Personally I am planning on handling all my show babies. I think it is better for them to be quite tame as it means they should be calmer in the show cage and more likely to relax and fluff their heads up and look pretty for the judges
  15. Hmmmm, Bannockburn, it's in my state..... New car this weekend might need a road trip
  16. mmmmm....... it's just that they have such a yummy name The remind me of lemon gelato.....yum, got to go to the shops now.....mmmmm......gelato.....
  17. I don't think it's a dementia moment(or an older persons moment as my mum calls it ), I think you are just so impatient for everything to work out perfectly you are paranoid about the little things. I do the same thing
  18. I did think about boiling it first The millet is a good idea. She is sitting in the nest box, maybe she just ddn't get the idea since this is her first egg ever.
  19. Mine will eat it however it comes too
  20. One of my hens in the breeding cage laid her first egg today off the perch. It had a hairline crack in it so I gave it a shake so it wouldn't start to grow and put it in the nest box in the hopes that she would get the idea for the next one, did I do the right thng there?
  21. I've never seen mine roll their eggs, but I get babies still :hap:
  22. The lady who gave me mine always has squillions of them hatching and she is happy to just give them away so if you need me to get some let me know :hap:. Also if they cover the bird cage securely with flywire mesh(and cover the door seperately of course it will make a good insect enclosure
  23. I won't leave it in the bowls for two days but you probably could have refridgerated it until tomorrow :hap:
  24. The real issue here is that unless he does get another chance to care for something he'll never learn  I can get a hold of some more leaf insects which might be a better starter pet for him as they are free to care for and only live for less than two years so they aren't a long term commitment.
  25. Violet opaline Dom pied spangle (maybe cinnamonwing but a little hard to tell from the photo Lutino L Skyblue cinnamon spangle.
