Age?
If they have no bars and iris rings chances are they are atleast 7 months old and probably older, plus I think they kind of have a baby face until they are around that age too. so if you waiting a few months to be on the safe side you should be okay. Pics would help though

Budgerigar Importation?
Western Aus has some very strong quarantine laws which are very much the same asthose for Tasmania. I think being on the other side of the desert they have missed out on some of the issues we have over her (and I'm not just talking about birds) so they try to exclude animals and plants from outside as much as possible. From: http://www.westernaustralia.com/en/Travel_...nformation.aspx Quarantine - Protecting our State Western Australia's geographic remoteness has provided the State with a natural barrier against many pests and diseases and Australia's customs and quarantine officers actively protect this. The State's agricultural economy is one of our financial mainstays and can be severely affected through the introduction of noxious plants or insect species. As such, strict quarantine laws are in place regarding the importing or transporting of identified food stuffs - domestically and internationally. Inspection officers and detector dogs are on duty at all state entry points including air, sea, road and rail. While they may seem harmless, nuts, seeds, fruit and vegetables, plants, flowers, honey, animals and introduced birds pose real threats to the Western Australian environment. Even used fruit and vegetable containers should be presented and scanned by Australian Quarantine and Inspection Services (AQIS) to ensure they are clean, and present no risk. The best rule to follow is, "If in doubt, declare it". State-based AQIS officers are friendly, welcoming and professionally trained and generally return more than 90 per cent of declared items to visitors. They want you to have a great holiday in Western Australia. Be warned, heavy penalties apply to those people not declaring items identified as a risk. Visit Australian Quarantine and Inspection Services online for further information.

So Guinea Pigs?
Argg, doing it off the top of my head from memory (and getting mixed up with rabbits) little Y and circle is most likely male. If you press gently just above the circle it will probably pop out (be VERY gentle )

Budgerigar Importation?
Those measures are teken Libby to try to limit the amount of nest robbing that goes on in areas where people might be more motivated to do that and where the birds may be less common. They have to set a state line somewhere and enforce at that point, it would be impossible to have a grey area for enforcement.

Budgerigar Importation?
It'd be risky, if a quarantine dog marked you and you were caught it would be prison or a large fine.

Respiratory Infections
Great info Neat, just for anyone doing further research the fungi is Aspergillus and Aspergillosis is the condition it causes, which may present as many different symptoms depending on the way the fungal infection takes hold

Unseen Mice Around Aviary
If they are rats they may well have carried them away, my pet ones used to hoard food if they were given treats.

So Guinea Pigs?
Because I used to breed best in show winning guinea pigs
-
So Guinea Pigs?
To sex them look closely at their 'bits, the males will have a little Y shape and the females will be a straight line. A little bit of gentle pressue will make the males bits pop out

Budgerigar Importation?
My understanding is that the current situation is that the quarantine facilities for the importation of birds other than racing pigeons have been closed and there are currently no plans to reopen them. If you live in NZ and have a single pet bird which you wish to transport to Australia when you permanently move here you can still do that I believe.

Has Anyone Used This?
I am amazed that it isn't for sale in Aus given Vetafarm is an entirely Australian company!

Whitegood Rescue Phase One
I think because the older fridges have cfcs which are bad if the fridge gets destroyed at the tip. Our is only a couple of years old so it's CFC free.

Under Weight Or Over Weight
That's Slim :hap: Cause I can never remember the name that board members gave him

Nest Boxes
They'd still be fine at my place since my breeding cages are in the garage (which stays pretty cool in summer).

Unseen Mice Around Aviary
I had seen no mice either until I was out today and noticed a little hole in the floor which I dug out and found a nest of baby mice. Needless to say there are eight less baby mice that will be growing to adulthood in my aviary

Please Cross Your Fingers For Me
Well she has proved that shes a little SLOW today. Went out to check on her and she was hunkered down in the nest box 'bowl' sitting like a champ, BUT where was the egg? Well it had rolled to the corner of the nestbox and she hadn't noticed I angled the nest box a little so that if she accidentally rolled the egg out again it would naturally roll back towards the bowl again.

Please Cross Your Fingers For Me
As far as I know this is her first clutch so we will see. I may let her have another clutch if she does well this time but then she will most likely be retired as she is nearly four years old

Yellow Faced Grey Budgie's
Some people put the hen in first but I've always just put them in at the same time
-
Yellow Faced Grey Budgie's
I just throw them both in and then add the nest box a couple of days later
-
Yellow Faced Grey Budgie's
Yes, potentially. Grey is dominant so you stand a good chance of getting grey chicks (either all gry if she has two grey genes or about 50% if she has one) and then you have about a 50% chance of each chick getting the yellowface gene.

Horse Food For Budgies?
The good thing about pellets is that atleast they will have a breakdown of the components on the pack(or you could look it up online) so you should be able to check for issues of protien levels, etc.
