Stupid me brought a budgie from the petshop a few weeks ago and when i got him home and put him in the quarentine cage i thought wow they really did a hack job clipping his wings anyway he finished quarantine and i put him in the aviary after a few weeks and realising his wings are not growing back i have come to the conclusion that he has french moult i did not know that you could get it in a mild form and have short feathers! So know he has been in the aviary with my other birds for around 3 weeks so if its contagious im guessing my guys have already caught it?? Does anyone have any suggestions on what i should do?

If a wild budgie catches a cold then what will it do to try and heal itself? There has got to be some other trick rather than getting antibiodics?

The parents are -mummy is a lutino and daddy is a dom pied also they are the perfect mix of both! I am sooooo proud!!!! These are there true colours they are so bright on the babies underbelly they are the fluro green and yellow i am naming the youngest one ozy.

Wow they are beautiful! they look violet to me and they have big fat heads! what are the parents??? i would LOVE to get this result!

Great news i have my very first egg from my breeding cabinets it might not mean much to some but i have been waiting for 4 weeks for my first egg out of 20 budgies so i am excited hopefull the rest will copy them and start getting busy too! I cant wait to see the outcomes!

I am so pleased with them after the first 3 failed clutches finally success! they are my first babies from budgies i brought when they were young!woo hoo im going to give them a break because they have been working extra hard but i am going to give them another go later on in the year.

The father of these babies is my first ever budgie and he is trained so he still come and lands on my shoulder and talks to me when i am checking on his bubs they had 3 unsuccesful clutches this being their 4th and first succesful and what a success!!!!!!baby number 1 im not sure about this one clearflight pied or opaline clearflight or neither?baby number 1 baby number 2 pied?baby number 3 ?them all together I am so happy with these babies i think they are beautiful i am not a fan of the greens series but i am in love with these little guys!

okay he is 100% better now and is happy and jumping around but now my lil albino is coughing and making a squeaky sound are there colds contagious??? The albino is really little and quite skinny he kept jumping out of the nestbox and sleeping on the freezing cold cement so he could have caught something from that? he is inside now so i am trying to nurse him back to health if its not one its the other!!! this stupid weather is crazy

Yes i am sorry to say it does not sound good for this little one as she will most likely not sit on the baby again do you have any friends with a hen you can foster it to? I am very sorry for the rest of your losses also goodluck with the little guy!

I guess this would be a good idea to get the most amount of eggs out of a hen aswell? It does sound like a good idea because i always wonder if one day then hen will turn on them but honestly i think i would be upset if i pulled them apart i see the bond my pairs have together and if i was to seperate them i would feel guilty? But as you said yours was a b***h anyway so no love lost there Have you had the problem with the hen turning before? Let us know how it turns out for you.

He is better this morning he is not making that sound anymore and he didnt have the staining above his cere so hopefully he just had something stuck in his throat he starting coughing just after i fed him some formula?

He sounds like he is sneezing he is a 5 week old baby albino and is really small i was told he is small becauseof the sex link gene? he really is little and he was flying out of the nest box and sleeping on the cement floor so i brought him inside to keep him warm but its since he has been inside that he has gotten sick?????????

When budgies are left exposed to drafts what is the common illness they get a cold? How are respiratory infections caught? I have a baby budgie that sounds like it is sneazing/choking i dont know what it is

I say give it a go put them in a seperate cage and see what happens if they are clear atleast she has laid a first lot and might get more into the swing of things i dont see how it can hurt rather let them try and have clear eggs than seperate them and break there hearts and probably have to wait 1 year???? Go for it!

Oh im so sorry thats horrible has dad been coping okay? It sounds like she was a spangle and he is a spangle so with the babies having black eyes i think that means they are DF spangles (which means double factor) Im sure someone will correct me if i am wrong either way they are still lil cuties what do the older ones look like?

They are soooo cute what colour are there eyes? They are either inos or df spangles i think depending on there eye colour. What does the mum look like?

Yes the hen can store sperm for about 3 weeks. What a skank! lol okay well that makes it hard now too bad if they have done the dirty i have just seperated them they wernt showing any signs of being paired so i will wait and see what i get?

Wow so if i go by the rules and if my cabinet breeders arent looking like they are pairing and i pull them apart the hen could still lay eggs from the previous patner weeks later and i wouldnt even know who the daddy was??

I know you have probably told me 100 times but how long does it take for an egg to be laid after they do their thing? because i have had a hen in a nest box for 2 weeks and still nothing????

He is doing even better today he is chirping for he first time and walking around and everything i am so happy he is beautiful and i am definantly going to keep him he is climbing around on my keyboard as we speak thanks for all your advice guys

Great news guys the litle one was in a box with the lid open and he wasnt moving much and then all of a sudden he jumped out of the top so its a start he seems to be using his feet better now aswell so all the finger crossing has seemed to work

okay thanks liv i have just given him a feed of formula which he loves and then i put some millet in there and he is picking at it so thats a good sign i am hoping for the best and i think i might keep him if he pulls through

He is squeezing when i hold him he landed flat on his belly when he landed so atleast there shouldnt be any brain damage he is just sleeping in the scarf is that okay?how do i check for broken bones? And also i had a baby die from crop rot and i suspect malnutrition so what else can i feed him besides the formula?
