So if i put that cock to an ino hen does that mean they would have 100% ino babies???

I have had two clutches from 1 of my pairs the first lot they had 1 albino, 2 spangles,1 recessive pied and 1 normal. In this new clutch so far i have 3 pink eyes inos and two black eyes. The parents are a sky spangle and a blue normal so does that mean that both are split to ino or is it just the dad? i get confused with the sex linked stuff

I finally took some pictures of my set up. It only took me 6 months! This is my aviary out the back (before it was cabinet set up) These are how the cabinets are set up inside now 3 on each side and 4 across the back wall So i have 10 pairs in cabinets out the back

I know its not the best photo in the world but its all i could do he might not be able to fly BUT HE CAN RUN!!!! Sorry its blurry his head is quite boofy i think hes great (not as good as yours though kaz he/she is beauty!)

I just went out to my cabinet aviary to check on my new baby and noticed that the food containers had ants on them! This is on the second level cage they climbed up the wire! Is there any safe ways to get rid of them without poisoning the birds aswell?

I have a first time mum sitting on infertile eggs. What should i do with them? I have read that if you just throw them away it will confuse her and take her longer to lay again?

I recently purchased a show budgie which is absolutley beautiful It is a yf sky blue but the yellow and blue have blended to make an aqua colour & it has the biggest violet patches i have ever seen!It has the most potencial out of all of my budgies and all it does is sits on the bottom of the cage.....constantly!! I had it in the cabinets with a few different birds but it just was not interested and would sit on the floor of the cage. So i moved it into my flight aviary and now its just sitting on the floor in there aswell there is nothing visibly wrong with it - its wings are fine???? I dont get it is there anything else that i could be mising? I have had him for around 3 months now so its not a sickness or anything?

I think they are both girls. But i am not an expert.

I think you are right, Neat did tell me to set up a light for the night time to give the ilusion of longer days. I am going to give that a go i have been meaning to take photos of my breeders and cabinets for ages but it takes a long time for me to load them onto photobucket thats why i dont do it much. They seem to be in condition but just dont want to know each other? I will try and get some pictures tommorow i am going to start having the light shine on them and hope that works. I am so impatient!

Neat pointed out something to me the other day...... None of my show birds are pairing up? I didnt even think about it, with all my other birds pairing when i actually thought about it not one of my new 20 or so shows have done anything i havent plucked them or anything but they havent even shown any interest??? I have had them now for around 3 months so they should be settled in now? Any ideas?

Nope didnt set it up yet but im going to start because they are looking mighty frisky in there. I need to give them a gentle nudge!

I have them set up in a large aviary in cabinets there are three sides of colourbond on the aviary so that stops alot of the wind other than that i have just started to wrap the one cabinet up that has eggs as it is one of the metal cages with box attached the others are made of wood and are quite warm so they seem to be happy. The baby that was DIS was from my colony aviary they are just in normal breeding boxes and i have a blanket wrapped around it.The eggs are still chirping away so hopefully tommorow i will have to new additions to the flock.

Now i have around 20 eggs that are fertile so around 75%. I have had two hatch one is in the process of hatching and have had one DIS so, so far it is very promising.I am going to cull a few of them though because i have 50 adult budgies which is about 10 too many so we will see what happens there. If anyone else has any cabinet success stories for this very cold season i would love to hear them and also any tips you might have to make the babies healthy in this freezing weather! I am sure that my DIS was because of the cold weather because it was chirping loudly and then i think it just lost all of its strength in the cold!

They are gorgeous! I am soooo jealous! Im not even going to ask how much they were because i might cry.What would happen if you put a green series TCB cock in with a Lutino or a blue series cock TCB with an Albino hen? Would the results still be the same or does it change because the sexs are reversed? Is that a silly question? Its just all the sex linked stuff is confusing me.

They are all beautiful birds.I was going to go to the st george sale but i was worried they would all be out of my price range could i ask you what the average prices were? Also what do you do with all of your babies? Do you have a certain breeder you sell them too?

Update time..... Now we have 23 eggs some are fertile some are not. In a clutch what is the average amount that hatch generally? Is it supposed to be all of them and if they dont is there a problem? I am just curious because i am dealing with a few first time mums and am not sure how many will be fertile or clear?

How long after an egg is laid can you start to see membranes when candling? Can you tell if it is fertile by the colour of the yolk before the membranes form? Probably a stupid question but i thought i would ask

I do understand your confusion as these hens can vary a great deal. Many show breeders will have in their aviaries a nestbox that is wide open and when they see hens going in and out of the nestbox entry hole then these are the hens ready to breed and who are then put in the breeding cabinet. Sometimes its more about the way they act than cere colour. Your hen isn't acting like she is interested in breeding so it would be best to give her a break and try again later ...a few weeks time perhaps. Yeah i think i will take your advice and pull the two out tommorow. I just dont want him to pair up with anyone in the process i really want the tcb to the lutino because they are both good sizes. I will give it a go and see what happens. Do you know of anyone who seperates there males and females?
