  1. ill get some tommorow its too dark now. If its eyes are plum what could that be? cinamon wing or fallow? what do the parents need to carry for it to be that? is it very noticeable between the plum and red when they are only 2 days old?
  2. they are the same colour as the rest of the body so they are pink -red?
  3. Hi again, My two sky blue and white spangles have had babies and 1 has pink eyes i am just wondering what it would be an albino? Im not the best with mutations but i dont think you can get a lutino from this combination? correct me if i am wrong thanks
  4. Yeah i have put extra bedding in there and i dont have to force the older babies back in there its like they want to go back but they dont know how to get there they are still learning to fly. The mum doesnt go in there at all anymore so im guessing it is the dad that is feeding them because they have alot less in their crops than usual? just as long as they keep getting fed i am happy so should i just keep checking on them and let them do their own thing?
  5. I have 4 babies in with a foster mum she has fed and looked after them perfectly for the last 4 weeks the 2 eldest are 31 and 28 days old and the two younger are 19 and 14 days old the two eldest have fledged and keep flying to the bottom and now the mum doesnt go into the nestbox hardly so the two babies are freezing in there so i have been putting the older babies back in to keep the little ones warm what else can i do?
  6. Thats very helpful thanks guys but one more thing how do you know if a violet is a dark factor or a single factor? or does that track back to the parents?
  7. Its all too confusing! i might just try and find a female cobalt or violet and try for one? ill get there one day
  8. Thanks for your reply you wouldnt credit it i have so many cobalts and violets but they are all males my females are all light blue, grey yellow or green!oh well off to the breeder for me!

Im not sure i am hopeless with the camera. Its more of a really dull green than grey im going to take more photos tommorow and will fiddle around with the settings to fix it up Thats what i was thinking? It is a really dilute (dull) pastel green i have never seen this colour before? The two older ones also have plum eyes so what does that mean?
  12. YES they can be hard to find...I paid a small fortune for a YF grey spangle recently....hope I get some chicks from him Really? i sold a beautiful yellow faced grey the other day for $10 oops i didnt know they were hard to come by? She is a beauty when shes ready she will give you some beautiful babies !

Im not sure if she has been plucked or if it just hasnt grown properly because there is no sign of plucking its the only chick that has it and there are none of his coloured feathers in the box? So what colour is the belly of the 1st baby because to me it is a definate grey green that turns to blue on the bum?
  17. I also colony breed -At first i put all the birds together in a flight aviary and all 10 has seemed to have formed a friendship bond. About 4 months later when i put the nest boxes in i had no problems i have had them in there for almost 1 year and had not had any problems no fighting or anything the males have a great time talking amongst themselves and even smooching while the females are sitting on their eggs. I am going to selective breed a few of my special birds but i am going to leave the rest to colony bred they seem to have a mutual understanding with each other and they live quite peacefully.

Here are my gorgeous foster babies im not sure what they are im thinking they could possibly be yf2 grey wings or spangle? If anyone thinks differently please let me know? This is the eldest he has yellow wings with light markings a yellow face and is a grey green blue dilute colour underneath The second eldest is yellow wings with light marks and a bright yellow face and bright blue underneath Baby number three will be totally different too young for me too tell? Baby number 4 is still cute and pink Sorry the pictures are blury it was the best i could do thanks also the eyes are quite large and seem to be plum colour there are no iris rings any ideas? i dont know why but the pictures seem to be huge i shrunk them to 450?
  20. your birds are beautiful! i love the hen! sorry to hear about the bubs even thought they are so tiny you always have really high hopes and it breaks your heart. Goodluck with the rest im sure they are going to be beautiful.
  21. Thanks again norm, i might just pair the two tcb's together and see what happens does that mean i would get 50 blue/50 green?
  22. Thanks Norm, I dont have enough praise for this breeder his birds are so beautiful and they were an absolute steal for $12 each! I think he could see that i was genually interested and that i would look after them so he practically gave them too me! He did tell me who the parents were and they are not related so i may put them together as they seem quite close already
  23. Thanks elly, I am still new to the mutations world and i am finding it quite confusing! can i ask you another question? I was told to put my opaline texas clearbody to a albino i read somewhere in here that they recommend putting it to a lutino do you know what the difference would be in the outcomes?
  24. :(Laughing out loud): :(Laughing out loud): :(Laughing out loud): I know they do look mean but when you put your hands near them they dont even fly away they were from a breeder who breeds in cabinets all of his birds had lovely temprements im sure its because he looks after them so well Thanks nicknack
  25. How do you know what the difference is between a df spangle (yellow) and a dark eyed clear? I have three birds that are all yellow i thought they were lutino at first but they are missing the red eyes and they have the white rings in their eyes? also i have googled them both and the photos look identical? Can anyone help me? Also what would happen if you put df to df or black eye clear to black eye clear?what would the babies be? or does it depend on the family history?
