Talking Budgie
what i have always wonder is if budgie can learn any work you teach them or do you have to stick with easy words, they seem to pick up words ending with "y" sounds easy.

Paperbark Tree
i put a branch in their aviary and i will see what they think of it.

Talking Budgie
they are funny when they are learning to talk, when we started teaching Tweety his name he started saying twit not tweety so now he will sometimes say "hello Twit" to me when i uncover him in the morning.

Paperbark Tree
i have one in my front yard but never given it to my budgies because i am not sure if it is safe.i know they would have fun ripping all the papery bark of it.
-
Paperbark Tree
i know that most native trees are safe for budgies but i was wondering if paperbark tree is okay or would the papery bark not be good for the budgies.

Talking Budgie
i also have a 9 and 12 year old so with 4 kids and the 2 cats in the house it is so hard to find time when it is quiet to film them.

Talking Budgie
that is a good idea but when i get the camera out to take photos or film the birds, i have my 4 and 2 year old saying"take a photo of me,take a photo of me" and then Tweety and Runt stop what they are doing and watch my kids.it probably will not be long and the budgies will be repeating that phrase.Tweety went through a stage where he was constantly saying "mummy" but he has stop that word, thank goodness.

Talking Budgie
it is frustating, Tweety and Runt were talking to each other today and kissing but as soon as got the camera out they seperated and Tweety closed his eyes, i am sure he was pretending to be asleep so i would not film him.

Talking Budgie
i was sitting in the loungeroom this morning and could hear one of the budgies talking to himself and mumbling"hello Tweety" and wolf whistling and i thought it was Tweety and was worried that he was not talking clearly and maybe having Runt with him will stop him talking so i went to the cage and was totally amazed that it was Runt talking not Tweety.Through me talking to Tweety and Runt listening to us, he has started talking. i think it is fascinating and am wondering has anyone heard of it happening before. i tried to video him but he stop when i got the camera out.

Tamed Budgie
i have been wondering if a female budgie that has been a house pet and is tame can be used for breeding, would she get depressed from being moved into a breeding cabinet and miss human contact.she is still only 4 months old but i am wanting to know if she would be better off living in the aviary because i want to breed with her.

Debs Visitors
it has been so much fun having the budgies for the weekend, i took some photos this morning of them before they go home. i am not sure what Tweety did but Peter was not impressed. Tweety and Runt enjoying their breakfast, it was my 2 year olds morning tea but she thinks it is more fun to feed the budgies her food.

Smart Idea To Keep Branches Fresh
that is a great idea,my budgies will not eat the leaves when they start drying out.

Healthy Treat
he was overweight when i got given him and even though he is in the aviary and use to fly alot, i have never been able to get his weight off him. i hope your budgies will enjoy their nice new food that you are going to get them.
-
Healthy Treat
thanks Missy,he is supposed to be loosing weight but he has a sprained wing at the moment and cannot fly so he is putting on weight and i cannot see his feet anymore he is that fat.

Healthy Treat
after i found out my budgie had fatty cysts, i read an article on fatty cysts and it said that they should have a low sunflower content in their diet but fatty cysts are also cause by overweight so Liv's point about only feeding it to birds that get lots of exercise is right. it is probably not the sunflower seed that is the problem but if they get fat then the cysts can occur.my budgie that has cysts has never eaten sunflower seeds but is overweight, just the vet was saying i had to avoid them.
-
Healthy Treat
i have been told by a vet that sunflower seeds are not good for budgies because my budgie has fatty cysts and the vet said that sunflower seed can cause them to happen so i should never give them to budgies.

Babysitting Budgies
Tweety had been talking for 12 months before i brought the babies into the house to handraise, because he sat and watched me feed them while i talked to him and them, i think when i moved Runt into his cage it did not change his environment enough to stop him talking. With Quarintening i know my birds in the aviary are healthy and since it has only been 6 weeks since the babies i handraised where seperated i did not see the need for quarintining.

New Cage
is the cage big enough for three budgies, because i am babysitting my friends budgies i brought violet into the house so i could have my 4 handraised babies together for the weekend. violet loves human contact but i moved her to the aviary because she was fighting in the smaller cage and i thought it was due to her moulting not the cage size that was causing problems.

Babysitting Budgies
I have been having a great weekend with the budgies, i have spent alot of time ducking my head, i have a hallway in the middle of my house and the budgies think it is fun to chase each other in the hallway so it is funny when you walk into the hallway and see a line of birds flying towards you. i am been very fortunate that even though most birds stop talking when given a friend, Tweety does not talk as much but still talks and talks more to Runt than to me but that is a worry when they are both males and Tweety's favourite phrase is " who's a pretty boy"
