congrats on the first egg, i have a pair exactly the same colours that i am putting together when i have finished building my breeding cabinets so i will be interested in what colours you get.

Thanks Norm, i do not have any normal blues so hope fully i will get some from this pair.i love pieds so i am wanting all the babies i breed to be carrying the pied gene then eventually i will be able to breed recessive pieds.

i do not know they parents of the pied but i bred the yellow face from a normal green and blue spangle so could it be possible for spangle to show up in the outcome

i am wondering if i pair a recessive pied male with a yellow face type 2 female what would be the outcome. would they all be split recessive pieds.here a pics of the pair. sly boris

i would really appreciate some. i only have 12 budgies and because i have breed some, 6 of them are related to each other.my options for pairs is getting limited.

he is a beautiful budgie, i can see why he got best grey and Amira is very pretty. it will be nice to see what babies they produce.

they look so cute and if they all hatch you will have heaps of babies. i think it is amazing how quick they grow when you look at one that is just hatched next to one that hatched days earlier.

hi and welcome to the forum. i hope your daughter loves her budgie, i bought my son a budgie for his birthday 5 years ago and now i have 12.After you get the budgie if you post a picture we will be able to tell you if is male, male budgies have a blue cere but if it is a young budgie the blue would not be showing yet.i am also sorry to say but this forum and budgies are addictive. i have more photos on my computer of my budgies than my children and my husband is planning on buying me a laptop because he does not get to use his computer anymore because i am always on this forum.

i did not know budgies could get hernias, hopefully someone will have some answers for you.

it is a sand base, the aviary has been built where my kids sand pit used to be.i know most people recommend concrete floors but i prefer natural floors. i have had an aviary for 4 years now with natural floors and never had any problems with sick budgies.i regularly clean the floors.

i only breed pet budgies so i love putting a pair together and seeing what colours i will get.At the moment i have been thinking about putting the yellow face type 2 that i got from the first pair with a blue recessive pied and see what the outcome would be.

that is interesting info there, Dave. i paired a normal green female with a sky blue spangle male and got 2 yellow face type 2 babies.i have always wondered how it happened because i did not know the background of the parents.the next year i paired the same male with a different normal green female and i got 3 blue spangles and one yellow face type 2.

i am so sorry to hear about Whitie but it was good that she die peaceful and live such a long time.

it is smaller than the old aviary so they are having to get use to less space but it will only be for awhile. when i repair the old aviary the breeding age budgies will be in one aviary and the young ones will be in the other aviary.

sounds like a great idea, hope you can sell the spa so you can start working on it.

it is hard to see the perches in the photo but i have a two long perches up one end and one long perch up the other. i have a couple of overweight budgies so i have set up the aviary with no perches in the middle so they will get more exercise. i have been very fortunate with the log, it has been in their old aviary for 3 years now and they have never nested in it.

the aviary is finished and budgies are in a nice aviary without a saggy roof. the old aviary was built 4 years ago and i did not know much about the right materials so we used chicken wire which has sag. my next job is to take all the old wire off and repair the old aviary. i have 10 budgies in the aviary, some of the birds are camera shy.
