sorry Liv, i did not see your post, your way of taming sounds good, i had not heard of doing it like that.if i had tried your method it might not have taken as long to train Twweety.

thanks for the ideas,kaz. i will go out tomorrow and get some pots and mesh and start planting some seeds. i hope my budgies will love me for it.

that is really great what you did for the old lady, there are some really pushy salespeople out there.

i have no nestbox in the aviary but if i rotate them often like kaz recommended then hopefully they will not have time to nest in them.i have bottlebrushes in my yard but they do not seem to like them.

would i use the same seed that i feed them with to plant in pots or do i have to buy special seeds.

i am wanting to put some potted plants in the aviary so i am wondering what would be the best plants to get for the budgies.my budgies like to walk around the bottom of the aviary picking at the seed that is on the ground even though there is heaps in the feeder so i was wanting to put other things in the bottom of the aviary for them to play in and eat.

that is good that your plans are going ahead.

they are great pictures and Tiggy seems to have settle in really well with your birds.

your husband sounds just like mine kaz, i am wanting to buy some breeding cabinets and my husband wants to make them for me instead but he has no time so i cannot do any breeding yet. i am getting impatient like you and thinking about just going and buying some and give up waiting for him to get around to making them.

your kids are cute and they do look so much alike.

i have been putting branches of eucalyptus and bottle brush in my avairy and the budgies will sit on them but will not eat them.

Rain - you lucky thing!!!! Here in SA we are so desperate for rain i wish i could send some your way, i am in nsw and for the last month we have alot of wet days. i usually love it but with it being school holidays i have had kids inside playing and am ready for some sun to get them outside.

it looks like they are enjoying themselves, my budgies did not get to see any sun today they just played in the rain

it has been a challenge for me working out what they do like and don't like.they are lazy as well, they like corn if i cut it off the cob for them.

my birds make a mess of the grass because they love it but only just started on vegies and fruit and seeing they are still not keen i do not think they will want to work to get it.

i like that idea, i put my grass for the budgies on a shelf but they always walk through it and poo on it.

i hope you get some good results, they are both beautiful coloured birds but i especially love big vinnie.
