congrats on the first chick hatching.

They are very pretty babies

those photos are amazing, the feathers grow very quickly especially the white ones.

the birds seem all okay, they are a bit unsettled but i think it is because they are moved to a different area.my neighbour did not tell me that he was painting his boat, i could smell paint so i went and asked him if he was painting. he said he will be painting for the rest of the week so my birds will be in the house till he finishes. we do not get on with our neighbour, i told him i had birds in my back area and he said it does not smell that bad and would not hurt them but if i am worried than just move them.my cat wonder into his yard one day so he poured metho on it.

They are a cute couple, i really hope everything goes well with the breeding.

wow, that is a big decision. i really hope you find a place that you like and will let you have your pets.

i got so frazzled about where to put them and was justing wanting to get them out of the fumes that i put one cage in my bedroom and shut the door but forgot my cat was asleep under my bed. i just went and moved the cat and she had not even noticed the birds. Thanks for your advice Liv

i have moved them, one cage is in the laundry and the other in my bedroom but are they okay to be in the house with Tweety and Runt if i keep the doors shut of the rooms they are in. I want to keep my quarintine birds safe but i also do not want to risk Tweety and Runt. i am not worried about Dave's budgies but the 2 new ones i got on saturday have brown marks above their ceres so i am keeping a close eye on them.

the cubby house is right next to the avairy, but i have 2 cages to move. i can put one in my laundry but i am trying to work out where to put the other. i do not have a garage and there is no room in my garden shed. i am thinking of putting the other one in my 12 years old room[he would love it] but his room is next to the loungerrom where Tweety and Runt live but if i keep his door shut will it be okay or should the quarintine birds not be in the house at all.

my neighbours has decided to paint his boat in his carport and is using thinnings today, his carport is 3 metres from my screen enclosed back area where my quarintine budgies are. i can smell the paint when i walk out my back door so are my birds safe to stay where they are.i do not have anywhere else to put them but if i need to move them i will just have to find somewhere.

i would love to see your results but what would be a good female to pair him with so i could see if he was carrying opaline.

it is a shame if it is called bad marking because i think it makes him look prettier than my other spangles.

i see what you mean, he is beautiful. i would love to see the results of your theory when you breed him. i am thinking of pairing Laverne with my cobalt recessive pied when she gets older, hopefully i might get one violet recessive pied out of the pairing.

sorry but another genetic question, her father was recessive pied so if i paired her to a recessive pied would there be a chance of the babies being pied.

i have just noticed that my new spangle has differnt markings than my other spangles, they have all black tips on the feathers of their wings but he has black and blue tips, what does it mean? i hope you can see what i am talking about from the pics i took.

that sounds interesting, can you post a picture of a spangle for me that you think is carrying opaline, my new spangle has blue lines on his back instead of black.i might post a picture of him and see if anyone can tell me what it means.

Thanks Libby, i know i want opalines and if she is carrying violet than violet opalines would be nice but i do not know anything about fallows or goldenfaces so how do those genes fit in. will all her babies be goldenface no matter who i pair her with.

i have seen photos of Mozzarella and Geo,i still find it amazing that Geo came from the same clutch because he looks so different from the others. i have a couple of bossy hens in the aviary so it will be interesting to see what happens when Laverne enters the aviary.i think there will be a bit of bickering while the pecking order is worked out.

it is a hard decision, i love budgies so much that i could not have just one and i love watching the way they relate to each other. They are addictive, when i joined this forum 5 months ago i had 2 tame budgies and 5 in a aviary, i now have 16 in my avairy.
