Hi and welcome Steve, i am in the maitland area and have found my budgies in my aviary have never had a problem with the heat in summer, when we get the hot days i just go and spray the budgies with the hose to cool them down. No matter how the avairy is set up you still need to go into the aviary to check on the health of them.

dont have any closeup photos at the moment,Dave. i will try and get some but i will wait till the sun decides to show itself because the flash on my camera changes the colours of the birds.

Tweety is my yellowface type 2 and Runt is the blue spangle.Until you mentioned the yellow colouring when you saw them i had not really thought much about it but i have looked a pics of other YF2s and Tweety and Slyvester[his sister in the aviary] do have strange markings.

that is great to hear that he tried the seed with the vegies with it.

the photo of Gabrielle in the box is so cute but with the cooler weather and rain i can understand why he would want to stay in the nesting box

I just had to show some photos of Tweety and Runt being friendly with my son. The last couple of nights when we let them out they are more interested in sitting on our shoulders than playing.I wondered if it is the cooler weather that makes them this way.

i agree with Melbournebudgie and Elly, it takes being persistent, it took my birds in the avairy a couple of months before they tried the vegies.

you have a lovely flock of birds and i loved browsing through your album. your 2 boys are very cute and is your youngest still in plaster, is it hard for him to get around.

it must be hard when you have alot of budgies to watch them all, i only have 10 in my aviary so i check mine every morning and i have one that has a beak problem that i trim every couple of weeks.

sorry to hear your budgies are not well, hopefully you can work out what is going on with Norm and he gets better for you.

mine are always quiet at night but the last couple of weeks have been cloudy so the nights are very dark.

it is looking good, it is a shame about the rain slowing things down. I have the same problem, i have materials to start working on my new aviary but have not been able to do any work because of the rain.

sorry to hear the little one did not make it.

they are all cute especially Gabrielle.My 4 bubs are still going well, i have found they love millet treats.

that is great to hear that Mickey has settle down and is bonding with you.

They will get used to having their wings clipped and hopefully by the time the wings grow back their behaviour has change so they will come back to you.

i hope the chick makes it through the night for you and finds a foster mum to look after it.
