Aviary Advice
After my aviary got flooded we have decided to concrete the floor but finances are limited at the moment so what would be the best way to do drainage but is not going to cost heaps.i cannot move the aviary so would the drainage be better to be on the outside to stop any water from getting in. Should i do concrete tiles or concrete the whole base.Posted a picture so any advice would be helpful.

Photos Of Lots Of Water
i am hoping we see some sun today, it is 6.30am and it is light outside but cloudy and it is quiet. The budgies in the aviary have stopped their morning chats and even the native birds are quiet.Poor budgies i think all this rain is depressing them.

Photos Of Lots Of Water
We went for a drive today to have a look at the rivers around us because they said they are experiencing minor flooding. I took some pics and decided to share them. i have had enough of the rain and i know a couple of other members here feel the same. we live in town but these are photos of the farming land near us. We drove passed farmers moving their cattle to higher ground. Paterson river which is still rising My kids have been stuck in the house for the last 2 weeks so when the rain eased up today for a few minutes i let the youngest outside to play. Lucy had to find the water to play in.

Flooded Aviary
my aviary is a soil floor so my husband has dug around the outside to drain the water out but i cannot clean it till it dries up.i only have 10 in the aviary but i think it would upset them if i moved them.my husband is doing a trip to bunnings today if they are opened and look at what we can do for better drainage.

Flooded Aviary
It has been raining for the last 2 weeks and heavy for the last 2 days.when i went to my aviary this morning the bottom part of my yard is flooded and that is where my aviary is so there is 2 inches of water in my aviary. The rain has come down to fast for the trench to cope with it. My quails were sitting on their log trying to stay dry so i have brought them into the house. What i am wondering is if my budgies will be okay if i leave them in the aviary. i have just read on the net that there is a flash flooding warning for our area.we are okay where we are but the flat lands around us will be affected. The budgies seed and water containers are up high and full covered roof so the budgies are dry but i am worried about diseases. any advice please.

Are Budgies Normally Less Active In Winter
thats great that your solar hot water works well, we have not seen the sun for 2 weeks now and i am also worried about diseases in the aviary. normally the floor of my aviary does not get wet but it is damp now because of all the constant rain. They are predicting the weather to fine up tomorrow, i hope so. My kids are on school holidays so it will fine up the first day they go back.

Are Budgies Normally Less Active In Winter
i just wondering if budgies during winter are quietier. The weather is getting cooler and it has been raining for 2 weeks now so i have noticed the birds in the aviary are not as active. Even my inside birds are quietier, is this normal behaviour for budgies to do when the weather changes.Does anyone else notice any differences in their budgies.

Tweety Biting Feet
i will try the spray and see if it helps. Tweety and Runt have their wings clipped so they are only out of the cage at night when my youngest kids are in bed but because they cannot fly they usual go to the floor when they are out of their cage.i put them up on the lounge but they go straight back to the floor.

Tweety Biting Feet
Tweety has starting biting my 10 year old daughter, if you saw my photos i posted of my birds with my son you can see that they are tame and love kisses but for some reason Tweety has taken to running up to my daughter and biting her feet hard when she walks into the room. I can be standing next to her and he stands on my feet and nibbles my toes but will go to her foot and bite her. Sometimes when she tries to pick him up he will bite her but he has never bit anyone else. The birds are only out when i am around to survive them with my children so he has never been hurt by her. Can budgies decide they like some people but not others? She is a typical girl who screams and does a little dance when he bites her so is Tweety being a typical kid and only doing it because he gets a reaction from her.
