Changed My Aviary
The middle section will get enclosed, i will get some more tin for the roof and back wall and a door at the front. I am finally getting the better of the mice, yesterday i was hosing the avairies out and a mouse came out of a very tiny hole so i kept hosing it to stop it from escaping out of the breeding room while Michael grabbed a piece of wood and whacked it. Then as he was killing it another mouse came running out of the small hole so he got it as well. I have blocked the hole now so hopefully it is the last i will see of them. Hopefully with all the disturbance, the might show them selves and you'll finally see the end of them.

Changed My Aviary
That looks great Deb!. So I take it you'll enclose the middle section between the two for your safety section? Brilliant idea and I'm sure it will make the world of difference. Great job! How are the 'mice' going???

Pottery Feeder..pictured.
I agree with Kaz... BUT could you try and use it as a feeder for veggies etc... It should be easy to clean, and if you just put it in the aviary when supplying fresh food and remove it once they are done... it 'might' be okay??? Not 100% sure but might be worth a try. You could always remove it if it looks like becoming a problem.

Budgies And Mice?
Agree with the others... but just remember to wash your hands with a detol type hand wash when handling one or the other... to be sure you don't spread germs from one to the other, especially mice to birds.

Our Benny
It all takes time. Some birds are faster than others... but congratulations on your progress thus far. Keep up the good work and hopefully you'll get more progress soon. As to the bird bath, each bird is different. Some enjoy a bath and some prefer being sprayed with a water bottle. You can add a shallow bowl of water and see how she goes. Try flicking the water with your finger so she sees it too. You can also add some herbs or leaves (bird safe of course) and see if she prefers that... some would rather this over a bowl of water. If no luck there... try spraying her. You'll soon figure out if she likes any of them... and if not... no dramas. Let us know how you go.

Seed? Yes Or No?
I will never feed my birds pellets. But it's a personal choice only you can make. As to some vets trying to get you on to them... I 'believe' it's the same as when Doctors 'push' certain medications etc... It's all about the companies approaching them to sell their products. My vet has never mentioned them to me. In any decision I make, I'm happy to listen to anyone... BUT in the end, it's my decision.

Our New Baby
Lots of young budgies do this for a number of reasons. Generally they do grow out of it... but it can take time. All I can suggest is changing the seed container, which you have done. You asked before about turning a dresser into a cage, if you look in our topics in the cage and aviary section, I'm sure you'll find some ideas there as I know some members have done similar before. Also... a suggestion if I may. As this adorable little guy is a... well... a guy... he should be easily tamed and even taught to speak (if you like), but I'd be removing his mirror. This will encourage him to bond to you and your fiance, rather then the 'friend in the mirror'. And lastly... he is adorable!!!!!! Congratulations

Oh mate... I'm so very sorry for your loss

Jwancia's New Small Flock.
I can only imagine... you can get those padlocks (large and small) that use a combination instead of a key. I have them on my aviary. It's eaiser than remembering the key all the time. I also use cable ties for the doors I don't need to use and pegs on the others...

I Can't Stop Crying :(
Hey... how's your gorgeous girl going??? I hope all is well with her health at the moment.

Jwancia's New Small Flock.
Oh no... so sorry for your loss. With this and the loss of your bush budgie dad... maybe you should invest in a secure area for them... another aviary for breeding cages and/quarantine cages to go in... that way nothing can/will escape. Hugs

Croaking Noise
A vet visit sounds like it's needed. It's not really a great idea to deal with it yourself unless you know what you are doing. Popping it with a pin has opened it and possibly allowed infection into it which could make it worse... If I was in your position, I'd be heading to the nearest avain vet... my opinion only though. Be sure to keep us updated. P.S. Great news about the aviary too!

We've Adopted Ernie's Brother, Ozzy
How cute!!! Some young bubs do that and I'm pretty sure he'll grow out of it. You could try changing his seed container to discourage it if it becomes a problem.
