  1. Do you have your budgies in a breeding cage? If so I would remove them as she sounds like she is not ready to breed. As for the quails, they don't use breeding boxes. Perhaps try a google search on Quails and breeding them if that's what you want to do in the future.
  2. CONGRATULATIONS I'm so thrilled for you...
  3. Perfect Matt!!! Smaller photos make it harder to see their true beauty! I like number 5.
  4. Hi and welcome to the forum. Not only is your english very good, you are able to post photos at the correct size... which many members still can not do! It's great to have members of such varying backgrounds and I look forward to getting to know you and your beautiful budgies.
  5. So sorry Pearce... I'd get the body checked out... so what ever it is doesn't spread to your other birds.

It's impossible to predict how many eggs will hatch regardsless of how many they lay. If a hen becomes egg bound and you are unexperienced you MUST get them to a vet, and if a cat gets into your budgie cage, your cage is not approprite!!! If a cat can get in... budgie can get out!!!!
  7. Oh mate... I'm so sorry. I can't even begin to imagine how you must be feeling. Did my dearest Tweet Tweet pass on with the others? Sometimes a break can be good, especially when you are greving such a big loss. You know where I am if you need to chat... and big hugs to you and the boys and hope your little man feels better soon. Look after yourself and the 'bub' too xoxo
  8. With all his green and yellow (gold) he looks like Aussie to me He is a sweetie and I can't wait to hear the storey!!! Excellent news on the introduction and a big thumbs up for the quarantine of Jasper and Sonny and now the newbie!!! Happy heathly birds will thank you!
  9. Life's too short to worry about things like this... It was like all the terrorist stuff... don't go overseas, don't go on planes... etc... You do have to take precautions... but you still have to live life... Yes... it's scarey stuff... but what do you do!?!?

Hi and welcome... Your birds are sweet. I'm not good with mutations etc... so I'll leave it to the experts. I'm glad you have found this site to be helpful, and remember we were all new once... so ask anything!!! Welcome again, enjoy and I look forward to getting to know you and your 'flock'
  12. I found some links for jumpers etc for Bobble... Some are overseas, but the pictures may give you some ideas... http://www.petparrot.com/ParrotCarePlucking.htm Right down the bottom it explains this suit... not great if his back is bare too though http://www.birdsupplies.com/Feather-Sweate...rots-p/avfs.htm Overseas but photos might be helpful http://www.flightquarters.com/bird-diapers...mvc?Screen=SFNT Feather sweaters/protectors- Overseas but photos might be helpful
  13. Pearce is right... but I just did it for you Hi and welcome too! Hope you enjoy your time here!
  14. Hi and welcome. I'd agree with Dave... I'd get another hen, so you have two pairs. But you'll need to quarantine the new hen away from your other birds for 30 days. Then if you add her to the aviary, you'll need more then just two nest boxes, and all at the same high. This is colony breeding and can create many problems such as hens attacking each other and killing chicks etc... As to the age of your birds, it's not wise to breed birds under 12 months of age. I'd find out their age before you breed them. Good luck.
  15. In short... no. We used to have a budgie who could say a massive list of words... The key is to work with him on one word/saying at a time. Once he gets it, you can start a new one. It's a matter of repetition... the more the better. You'll find he has words he likes more than others and uses more. Just keep a list so you know what he knows etc... Some you may need to repeat more, but they have a pretty good memory.

Good stuff!! I should have known you'd be on the ball For further assistance with its health (if needed), go to Liv's Tiel forum as we are unable to help out here... but updates are always welcome!

Poor thing!!! I'd make sure you do a decent quarantine with it... as it doesn't look healthy to me. The lack of feathers could be due to a number of things, and an avian vet check would be my first point of call. Good luck if you decide to take it and I hope it's okay. Age wise I can't help you there sorry.
  18. Lest we forget.
  19. All fun and games hey!?! I'm sure you'll find the perfect cage soon enough. Just remember when you get more birds and breed in years to come (as mentioned in your first post), you'll need to cabinet breed as most of the cages above would not be suitable for multiple breeding... but I'm sure you knew all of that anyway :-)
  20. :fear   Brilliant move!!! It's great to see members put the health and welbeing of their birds before what they want!

Awww, hugs luv... Agree, go for the airtight containers, mouse traps and search for any entry holes in your house and use steal wool... with the traps, I use peanut butter, never wash the traps... and move them around when they start being empty. Good luck mate.
  23. Yep... HE-PEANUT... congrats!
