What Was That I Was Saying About Impulse Purchases?
Mirror's often cause budgies to become attached to their 'friend' in the mirror, more so than you. Not a good idea when you're trying to form a bond and train. Some can even get possessive over them and attack your hand when you put in it. *** forgot to add... Twitter is beautiful! and love the name too***

What Was That I Was Saying About Impulse Purchases?

I'd do what's best for your birds... not you. If it means waiting for chicks, so be it...- Please Help With Cages!
You'd be best to start your own topic with questions like this instead of adding onto someone else's... but I had a cage the same as that and it's bar spacing is too wide. Always be wary if they don't state it...- Omelette's Babies
Looking great Kaz... they do grow up so quick!- Hello Everyone
Hi... and a big official welcome to you. I'm sorry for your losses, but glad you could get to the bottom of it. Many people unfortunatly learn the hard way about quarantine. So very important.- Please Help With Cages!
Awww, he is tiny!!! lol... looks like when you bring a newborn home and tuck them into the bottom of their huge cot!!! lol GREAT CAGE!!!! Love it. All you need now is more toys!!!- Sky And Lady
I'd put them both back in the avairy... and after the cold of winter, if they look in bredding condition, try another pair. I don't like to breed over winter, but that's just me. I'm also not a regualr breeder either... lol... Good luck- Single Female Budgie
A couple of things when introducing a new bird... 1. I would always get the same sex... (Unless you plan to breed) Females will not fight more or less then males... Makes no difference in my book. 2. You'll need to quarantine the new bird in another room away from your darling for 30 days... 3. I'd introduce them over time and in then keep them together. They'd be much happier. Just make sure your cage is big enough for two! 4. Try and get your new girl from a breeder, as it will be of better health and if the breeder knows there stuff, you will get a female! 5. Just remember, having two budgies verses one can make them become less attached to you, and taming can take longer. BUT I agree with your thoughts on getting one. If it was me, I'd get another girl. Quarantine for 30 days and in that time work with them both separatly, and then when they're together, you can either continue taming separate or together... each is different. *** Just a note on Quaratine... it is done to stop any sickness your new bird has been passed onto your orignal bird. Even if they don't look sick, they can still cary something. When in quarantine... even if they call to each other and try and get out of their cage... don't bring them together... even in the same room is pointless... TOTAL separation for 30 days... I look at it this way, 30 days is not long, and it gives you time to work with them one on one***- To Clip Or Not To Clip
With your cats... it makes it hard. I'd be more inclinded to let them fly, so they can get away from your cats... That being said, if it was me, I'd only let them out when the cats were outside/another room, and I'd keep them clipped. When I had inside birds, I had them clipped... for their safety. Just remember, a clipped bird can still fly and get out of a door/window. They can still escape and if they do, they are at more risk outside then an unclipped bird. BUT... a very personal decission that only you can make.- Mice Issues..argh!
Agree with others... They need to be removed. I prefer traps, and bait them with peanut butter. I never put them in my aviary, more so in the bird room next door. When you say cage... do you mean cage or avairy that you walk in??? Inside, outside etc... Agree with Kaz, photo would help.- Vet Refuses To See My Bird
Yes professionals should treat their clients/patients professionally as should the client treat their medico or vet professionally too. If the client is not being professional or respectful then I don't see how it is fair to complain. You must give respect in order to gain it. Totally agree 100% If you're going to behave like a goose, then you can't expect to be treated like a swan! True however, many a time I've been treated like an inconvenience rather than a valued customer. It seems all too common for professionals to treat their customers poorly - maybe the rest of us just aren't high enough up on the food chain for them to consider anything other than a cash cow (and an annoyingly demanding one at that). I've finally found a skilled vet for my dogs, sheep and horses who will actually answer my questions and properly explain their recommendations without making it blatantly obvious that I'm too dumb and too annoying to waste their time on! Everyone is different... and people being treated poorly happens accross the board, from customer service to high paying professionals. It's been happening for years and although it's not okay... it wont change. Some people are nice, some people are not... and regarless of their profession, they will be how they choose to be. It's up to us as paying customers to decide who to give our business to. If you don't like the service, go elsewhere... If I'm not treated as I expect to be, I will take my business elsewhere... even if it costs a little more. It's our choice...- Thrive?
If it was me... I'd ditch and start again... Here's the Material Safety Data Sheet This stood out to me: Ingestion: No adverse effects expected, however large amounts may cause nausea and vomiting. Eye contact: May be an eye irritant. Skin contact: Contact with skin may result in irritation. Inhalation: Breathing in mists or aerosols may produce respiratory irritation. Even though you'd rince it... better to be safe then sorry.- Anyone Ever Had Fatigue Syndome?
A friend of Mum and Dad's has a daughter with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. I believe it takes a long time to get over, and like some illness, never really goes away. It's important to look after yourself, do as you're told and rest... It's not something you can 'work through' and you'll need to become very aware of the signs and symptoms so it doesn't get you down again. I hope you can take the time to look after yourself and start to feel a little better soon. Hugs xoxoxo- Cage Advice
In this situation, I'd go agaist everything we recommend here... smaller cage and perches running along cage to they can scoot from one side to the other.- Cannot Stand The Silence Anymore.
In situations such as this, everyone is different. Some people take longer then others. Me... I find getting another one helps me deal with my loss. I hope this helps you as it has me in the past, and I look forward to seeing your new friend.- Doughter And Mom Nesting Together
I'd be very careful. Some situations like this can end in disaster, with the parent's/mother killing the older chicks. I only cabnet breed and separate the babies from the parents when they are old enough.- Fledged Baby Attacked By Mum
Awww... biggest hugs on your losses xoxo I personally would not breed with her again. I hope the other bubs fledge soon and grow up happy and healthy.- Learning Whistles/songs/sounds
YES!!! My avairy has budgies and Cockatiels, and the male Tiel picks up sounds from wild birds, and other whistles my Mum and I taught him. If you say it enough, they will most likely pick it up eventually. It's a good sign if they copied BB click. Keep at it and start with something simple... maybe a wolf whistle???- A Few Lost
Oh... big hugs xoxo So sorry for your losses.- Vet Refuses To See My Bird

Yeah... they would look awsome, but my budget won't allow it at the moment... maybe later- Bottle Brush
Perfectly safe. Just remember to give it a rince under the tap. If it's not from your garden be very wary of sprays etc... Try and get them a branch with flowers/nuts etc... and they'll love you for it!- Rustic Planters
oh shucks... why thank you. I'm happy with them! - Sky And Lady
