  1. Didn't mean to offeend regarding wing clipping. Just mentioned that I personally do it. I know many who don't and they don't have a problem. Some great adive from GB there. Especially as she raised him and tamed him herself.
  2. I have always clipped my inside budgies wings. I found that to be most helpful to the bonding. Wing clipping is a personal choice, so up to you if you want to do it or not. I'm sure he likes you though We have lots of great tips in the FAQ's on taming/training. Maybe check them out, even though your guy is already tame. I'd also recommend a PM or chat with GB. Since he came from her, she can probably give you some tips as to what she has done in the past, and see if that helps. Keeping any budgie, especially a young one, is a constant job. Over time, I believe the learn the behaviours and it becomes eaiser, but when young, time and effort is needed. (Like any animal/child) :hmm: Good luck with him and please let us know how you're getting on.
  3. I'm no help with costs sorry, but they look great! Maybe you could take requests. People could send you photos and you could use them for reference.
  4. Sounds like something I'd say!!! We all have these moments, don't stress, really xo
  5. Sounds good. Whilst doing your research, you could talk to Libby, just to find out what she is breeding. That way when you decide what you are after, you'll know if she'll have something. Good luck
  6. Glad she doing better. We all make mistakes, the important thing is to learn from them. Hopefully others will too. Great news and thanks for the update.
  7. If you're in WA (as it sounds like) Member *libby* is a brilliant breeder. I'd PM her regarding what you are after before going anywhere else.

I figured that... but lots of of people (mostly not members) could read it and actually do it... there are some not very smart people in this world
  9. Did you mean siamese Maes ? They can whinge a lot ! The kitten has currently got used to be called TISHY. Ken says we are calling her TISH Nar... Burmese. A friend has them and although they are no where near as wingie as Siamese, they still talk... But I live alone so I suppose it would give me someone to talk to Tish... Love it. Easy to call and tell off!
  10. Awwww... I've always wanted a Burmese but am put off by their contant 'talkin' I have a feeling they would annoy me. Are you going to keep her name Kaz?
  11. Aww... I hope he continues to improve. Probiotics are excellent after a stink of medication especially stomach related. They return the gut flora back to it's normal'ness... I got mine from Vetafarm (online) but some pet shops sell it and maybe even vets. Hugs xoxo
  12. What Kaz said times millions!!! :raincloud: :raincloud: :raincloud:
  13. I would STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST IT!!!
  14. I'm sorry for your loss. I too learnt the hard way. In saying that, it's often hard for members here. We see the same thing over and over again, and give the same advice, which is often met with 'but they are fine now, they are getting along okay, we've had no problem, my birds don't fight'. Unfortunately, by the time you get problems, you often have a death or many. If you are lucky enough to colony breed successfully once, twice or a few times, it also doesn't mean it will always be the way. With the Dad and chicks inside, you can have an upturned ice cream container for the younger ones to hide in. I'd also make sure to put paper on the floor of the cage, wire or not. It will make cleaning a breeze, as you can remove it and replace with fresh daily (they poo heaps). I'd also scatter seed on the floor to encourage the young ones to eat when they are ready. If you are suplimenting the young, check out the links in our FAQ's for tips and help. I'd also have some wet/fresh food in a container for Dad and chicks, with veggies like corn, peas, carrot etc... this will give them some extra nurishment. As to the cage, you can put a low perch, for the chicks to get up onto when they are up to that stage too. Again, sorry for your loss.

NOT a good idea. Imagine the stress the poor thing would suffer with a group of 6 year old chasing it around.

If you could find or make budgie shaped biscuits, you could decorate them. Bobbins for apples or eating them off a line with your hands behind your back is kn id of like how budgie eat their fruit and veggies.
  17. Wooo... very cool if you can find anything. I studied Graphics and Tech Drawing at school so do it all by hand, but mistakes and alterations are eaiser via computer.
  18. Poor thing. I hope he feels better soon. Please keep us updated.
  19. Good idea if it will ease your mind. I'm sure he will be fine. Please keep us updated. I'll be thinking of him
  20. Hi and welcome. Can you post a bigger picture as I can't see the one you posted. They can be 640x480, no larger. I look forward to getting to know you both.
  21. Very normal... I'd say she loves you and is chatting to you in her own bird language. A great sign for your future bond too!

Hi and welcome. Make sure you read all the information we have on breeding before you begin. Good Luck and I look forward to some photos.
  23. For me, any symptoms out of the normal, I'd probably take him to the vet. But I am over cautious.
  24. You might get 5/5. The longer the distance between 1st and last egg can effect this and the last one can get covered in poo effecting it's chances... As to males feeding, mine have always helped, but not often from inside the next box. Some even help incubate, but none of mine have.
  25. :sadsorry: I know... but also having seen what can happen when things turn bad (and this is only between budgeis) I would hate for you or anyone else to see that!
