  2. Love that last picture :fear She is a very pretty spangle
  3. I have the bird tracker. I am finding it really good.
  4. You have lovely birds and pairs BUT..... About 80% of these birds look well under 12 months to me.....
  5. The stuff i got is called Protexin.... Its not avian specific but its has 9 strains of pro biotic which is meant to cover most domestic animals, including caged birds.
  6. It's so lovely how budgies care about one another Good luck at the vets and i hope she is easily treatable. Pop a warm lamp shining on her (25-40 watts) - it will help make her feel a little better
  7. Thats great to know I managed to get a few sachets from my local fodder store. They will do for now, ( i want David's new hen to have them) and i will look at getting a more cost effective way soon. $43 is a great price, especially for 200g and i may just get some from you if i cant get any locally
  8. Looks like a feather cyst to me. Kind of like an ingrown hair. I believe they are treatable by an avian vet, but they have a tendency to reoccur.
  9. Trend Micro Internet security (business version) and it was up to date - it updates a number of times during the day as the new updates become available - it didn't catch the virus until it had already taken hold and couldn't clean it
  10. oh be quiet you!!!
  11. In the last 2 days my laptop had contracted a "Generic" TROJAN virus after 2 days of various system restores and deletions of the "infected files" the virus has effectively and totally deleted every single file in my personal folders. So that's all my documents, photos, movies, music, downloads etc etc etc and not to mention the hours of wasted time   I have no idea where the virus came from, i dont download dodgie software and i dont visit "iffy" sites. It may have come in on an email or in the background of some site, OR it may have been sitting dorment until i did something to trigger it off. Thankfully i happened to do a full backed up of all my files on an external hard disk only 4 days ago  So just a reminder to you all to.... BACKUP YOUR FILES These viruses are a real headache and you will lose all your precious files without a backup. SOOOOO...... BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP BACKUP AND DO IT TONIGHT!!! Some info on Trojan horse viruses A Trojan Horse Virus is a common yet difficult to remove computer threat. This is a type of virus that attempts to make the user think that it is a beneficial application. A Trojan Horse virus works by hiding within a set of seemingly useful software programs. Once executed or installed in the system, this type of virus will start infecting other files in the computer. A Trojan Horse Virus is also usually capable of stealing important information from the user's computer. It will then send this information to Internet servers designated by the developer of the virus. The developer will then be able to gain a level of control over the computer through this Trojan virus. While these things take place, the user will notice that the infected computer has become very slow or unexpected windows pop up without any activity from the user. Later on, this will result to a computer crash. A Trojan Horse virus can spread in a number of ways. The most common means of infection is through email attachments. The developer of the virus usually uses various spamming techniques in order to distribute the virus to unsuspecting users. These emails contain attachments. Once the user opens the attachment, the Trojan Horse Virus immediately infects the system and performs the tasks mentioned above. Another method used by malware developers to spread their Trojan Horse viruses is via chat software such as Yahoo Messenger and Skype. Another method used by this virus in order to infect other machines is through sending copies of itself to the people in the address book of a user whose computer has already been infected by the virus. The best way to prevent a Trojan Horse Virus from entering and infecting your computer is to never open email attachments or files that have been sent by unknown senders. However, not all files we can receive are guaranteed to be virus-free. With this, a good way of protecting your PC against malicious programs such as this harmful application is to install and update an antivirus program.
  12. WOOHOO!! so great to have you back So pleased you are happy with your new laptop!!
  13. Lemon looks like a hen out of breeding condition in those photos. She is a recessive pied
  14. I found my Answer to my above question.... Answer = NO Probiotics for exotic birds must be specially designed for them, they must be avian specific. Since a bird's body temperature is higher than mammals the probiotic type bacteria found in the gut flora are different. They must be specifically selected for their effectiveness on exotic birds. It is a mistake to think that probiotics that work on dogs, pigs, humans or even poultry will be ideal for your parrot.
  15. David has just gotten home after searching all morning with no avail for animal pro biotic. He bought "inner health" pro biotic power form the health store.... is this okay to use? if so, how much is to dose??? it says there are 15 billion bacteria per 1/2 teaspoon
  16. OH MY!! What a trip
  17. OMG Deb! That picture is sooooooo caption worthy You could name this picture "Gone Fishing" "mum said if i sit here long enough with my tail in the water i will catch some dinner. "
  18. There is this stuff that hospital staff can put on wounds, its like a second skin and helps it close and may help a little with the pain. You can even get a liquid type band-aid from the supermarket. My mum cut the top side of her finger off while cutting an apple, it was her pointer on her right hand and hurt like *** because she always bumped it when doing things. It healed up and barely left a scar. Fingers are very good at healing. i have slicked my fingers too and you cant even see a distortion to my fingerprint!
  19. So if its good at inhibiting yeast and fungi, could it help with mega too??? What about things like Canka and psittacosis? sounds like something that EVERYONE should use on their birds frequently.

I have my eye on a male for her. I don't think she is olive, but grey green (probably with a dark factor in there to - dark factors and greens confuse me  ) - her tail is black. She is a Loyd Edwards bird, and her father is a stunning grey cock who is one of Loyd's of best birds. Her sisters were stunning and were both used to breed with last season, Henrietta is an ugly duckling in comparison to the rest of her family, she didn't get the mask or the head, but she has not been tried and she may hold the genes to produce something nice. I have already picked a cock for her. its a Dominant pied grey green i got from Kaz. He will compliment her nicely i think David is very happy with her. she is in a quarantine cage out side the kitchen window and he is always looking at her :bliss:
  21. Thanks so much for all the information, its really interesting and i have sent David out to get some pro biotic today when he is in town
  22. Ouch!! I hope you heal up quickly.
  23. They look all right to me I am learning quickly that its not all about looks, but about genetics. A really good looking bird can produce lousy chicks and a really plain looking bird can produce ripper chicks.... you never know what your going to get all the best with them and i look forward to seeing what they produce
