They are looking awesome Dave!! I love your gearing hen - she is turning into a stunner!
  6. Very pretty Yellow Face type 2 Opaline The wing is very short - The end flights need to be cut too as they will run a risk of being caught and breaking off. It's too dark to see gender, possibly a male, but need a picture in natural light to tell for sure A real sweety.
  7. Hello and welcome I would say that he seed dispenser is no good for budgies and cockatiels. It is more suited to finches and canaries i think. Most people i know have their bird seed in dishes or in gravity fed dispenser with little dishes at the bottom. Like this
  8. Hello and welcome. Is your new bird quarantined in a separate cage in another room - as this will help stop the spread of potential disease. In regards to mites, worm etc. people who have their birds inside all the time can get away with not doing these things provided the birds didnt have the parasites in the first place. Don't feel overwhelmed. there is so much to learn and you need to find what works for you and your budgies. Are you able to post a picture of your budgie/s?? we love photos
  9. Hello and welcome Gandalf is so lucky to have such a lovely and caring budgie mummy He sounds like he is doing really well so far. the drop in eating may be from his wound causing pain (the vet may be able to give some pain meds) He may also get stressed with too much attention. The hulled millet sounds really good. Just be careful as a millet only diet can cause a stress moult. Try getting some pure canary seeds and some hulled oats as well. You can hull the canary seeds and millet, then grind up the hulled oats finely. This mix will give protein, fat and carbs and will keep his weight up. Would love to see a photo if you have any
  10. i dont think i have ever heard anyone say they are happy about getting bitten - so pleased she is starting to feel better
  11. All AV's advice is great. You must be careful not to wet the floor of the aviary as this will activate the Coccidiosis parasite which cant cause serious harm, even death.

I find the same with pet shops. They are a rip off when it comes to the breeder. most pet shops here will purchase green budgies for about $2.50 - $3 tops. then the price slowly goes up until the grand maximum of $5 for a YF2 pied

I know some of these might have been answered in the forum but the search in this forum is ****. It gives to many results half of which are not even related to what your searching for. The search function works best using one or two descriptive words. eg: If you wanted to know about how much to sell a green budgie, then try typing "green sell" and see what comes up. If you use too many words you will get too many results. If nothing comes up, then it may not have been discussed How much do you think you could sell a green factor budgie for that hasn't been tamed? Depends on the budgie - if its pet type, then between $10 - $20, if its show type then it goes on show quality. How much do you think for a green factor that has been tamed? Maybe not full on training but just some basic stuff like the setup and suited to like not go nuts when you put hand in cage. I sell hand tamed baby budgies (regardless of colour) for $30 and i feel it is a relistic price What age do they usually open there eyes at? Is this when I should start taming them? They open their eyes around 7 -10 days old. You should handle the babies every day, but start to tame them once they are getting their feathers at 2-4 weeks How many eggs does a budgie hatch usually. I had a pair I got around 1-2years old had 5 but I dropped 1 mistakenly and 4 are left 2 have hatched, rest should hatch within the next 2 days. depends on the hen and the amount of firtile eggs. i think the average per nest is about 4 chicks. How long should you wait after the 18 days have gone if the eggs haven't hatched to get rid of them if they don't that is? Wait until the egg is visibly unviable. I dont normally toss eggs until about 2 weeks overdue Should you treat new baby budgies for anything? No, unless something comes up Does a budgie only bond to the same one and stay bonded? or can you pair it up with another one if you wish. that is one that has already paired up and bonded and you gotten eggs and then wanted to breed it with another will it bond with another still? or will it only then just bond with the one you had it with from now on? Budgies work on "out of sight, out of mind" concept. It takes about 3 weeks for a bonded pair to break and a new one to occur once separated.

Quarantine is done for 30 days. Normally all new birds are kept in a separate cage well away from the existing flock for 30 days. Many people worm, mite and disease treat during this time too. Lovely birds you have
  16. **Liv** replied to summer's post in a topic in Budgie Behaviour
It is often associated with preening. They get some feather or sheath stuck in their throat, and start to "yawn" Offer a drink of water if tame and it will stop. Otherwise, it will stop on its own in a minute or so.

Chin up! If the house is meant to be, it will happen in your favor. And i REALLY hope it works out in your favor Try playing some of your favorite music loud enough to drown out the neighbours booming too - neighbors constant *DOOF DOOF DOOF* can get really annoying
  22. ah yes.... it was a sea of feathers for a bit there hehe There were 4 babies in total from that clutch and there are a couple of fosters in that nest too. The paresnts are amazing
  23. "Bugger! You still took my photo! Damn it! My camouflage isn't working and i squeezed into here for nothing!"
  24. **Liv** replied to Dragonx's post in a topic in What Sex Is My Budgie?
Both grey birds look like hens to me. However, Kaz is right about male birds having brown ceres when they have testicular issues. Here is a picture of a male with the brown on part of his cere - the brown can completely cover the cere hiding the blue all together

<<<---- The opaline there on the wire has a lovely clear back You have very nice birds and a huge aviary! i agree more perches could be good as their tails fray if they hang on the wire too much. You have a lovely flock Thanks for the pictures.
