Look What I Did!
I agree with the full floor. having a sealed floor also helps reduce worms, lice and mites that live and breed in the soil

Off To Perth
This is such a debatable topic. I dont really have a strong view either way yet as i am still learning what works for me (she says as her birds are all on Ronivet-S at the moment ) Anyway There seems to be a real split down the middle when it comes to medicating the flock for preventative measures. Some breeders swear by the all natural (no medications) approach and others believe in the chemical cocktail they give. I think its all about what works for you and what you are comfortable with, no one is right and no one is wrong.

Bird_paradises Breeding
I agree, she doesn't look 100%. Wait for a bit with that pair and i bet you will be rewarded with some lovely chicks. They are a really nice pair Your second pair I think you will get normals and split recessives. Unless your green hen is split for blue, they will be all green. If she is split then you will also get blues and YF2's

Look What I Did!
That is so cool!! Well done and look at all that flying space! Take care with the open roofed section as wild birds droppings will come though and give your birds parasites and disease. You can either put plastic or tin roofing on or you can suspend the open section by placing wire on the base, and then lifting it all off the ground high enough that you can get a lawn mower underneath still. Well done!! :bliss:

Pairing Some Of My Birds.
Thanks so much for the great advice given, what would we do without you all My hubby and I spent hours last night going though every bird, and using your advice and advice from other breeders as well, we have shuffled the birds. We have paired the entire flock (on paper) so some that i was going to breed now will be bred later and vice versa . We were quite impressed to have paired every bird except for 2 cocks which i suspect have French moult, so none will be "wasted" and all will be tried with the best partner possible :bliss: Will show some pics later as its getting hot here again. Thanks again

New Fleet
Very nice boys I love the opaline spangle cock in the middle. The hen next to him is nice too I hope you have lots of hens to put them with... its so easy to get way too many males and not enough hens

Why Do Budgies Always...
Why do budgies always make us smile no matter how crappy the day Why do budgies always take baths in their freshly medicated water Why do budgies always drag a full cob of corn and drop it in their water.

Dil's Colour And Gender
Yes of course hens live to be 9 as well I have had many live well into their teens. He is definently a cock because his a recessive pied and his cere (nostrils) are pink and smooth, and if it was an adult hen the cere would look very different.

Any Help On Pay For Good Budgies
I agree. it all depends on the birds. i have birds that range from $0 - $70 , most are around $20 I know of a couple of breeders over here who wont sell birds for less than $1000 Go to your club meetings, mingle and make genuine friends and don't be pushy to buy birds. When breeders like you and you have proved you know your stuff, they will feel comfortable enough to let you look at their birds and maybe even buy some culls. You don't want to pay top dollar for birds at this stage any way. You will make mistakes with wrong pairings and health issues etc, so you really need to get lesser stock birds rather than the showy birds and breed the stock birds up until you have your own solid stock that you can add quality birds to add missing features later down the track. Budgie breeding is not something that happens quickly and the top breeders are as good as they are because they have been doing it for years, often decades.

Yes Or No?
depends what you are breeding for. if you are breeding for pretty birds, then breed any birds you like together. If you are breeding for specific types then dont breed recessive pied to dominant pied.

Spangle To Spangle Pairing
Sounds good to me

Cuttlefish
Give it a good wash with fresh water and let it sit in the sun to dry for a few days. Make sure its not smelly and dont use any cuttle that is darkish black or yellowed - only use the pure white pieces.

Pairing Some Of My Birds.
I want to keep this pair together for their bloodlines Pair 4. Cec Gearing hen with Gearing/Armstrong cock (this pair is from Kaz) I will scout my aviary for other possible partners for the Recessive Cock and the DF spangle - will post pictures later. The hen in my avatar could be a good match for him, she is still in quarantine so might have to wait until the July round.

Pearce's Budgerigar Blog
congratulations on your second baby. I love your grey green pair - they are amazing I also do not know any breeders who separate the sexes. All the breeders i have visited so far have 3 groups in individual flights; 1 adult flight, 1 baby flight, 1 cull flight.

Photos Of Birds And Outdoors Shots
Great shots! i love photography too. This cock is sick... notice the food/vomit on the face and the poopy bottom, he needs to see an avian vet!

My Pairing
Possibly a hen, but the flash washes out the cere. How are her feet and legs?? at her age she should be standing well on flat surfaces and/or beginning to perch
