I agree, she is redoubtably a hen
  3. They are looking awesome. I hope the third little chick adapts and starts eating well on its own soon. The TCB is a cock for sure. The first albino looks like a hen and the third chick might be a cock too... not sure on that one. I love the TCB - The markings are so vivid

They both look like hens to me
  5. Here in SA it's not widely available either. i remember when over in WA saw it EVERYWHERE!! but in other states it tends to be planted along streets (that are about 20-30 years old) and in some parks. It took me ages to find it here.

Oh he is a cutie Is the crack just in the top layer of the beak or is it deep? He may have bumped into something and the crack will grow out. Budgies also get lines and flaking in the beak when its growing... but i agree this looks a little more than that. Provided its not nutritional, it looks like it should grow out fairly quickly.

Awwww i am so sorry She is at peace :fingerscrossed:
  13. Oh, Am so sorry Dont take her to the vets then. she is safe and secure at home with you. Just make her last moments quiet and peaceful. Taking her to the vet will only stress her. I hope it happens quickly :fingerscrossed:

Steps 1-5 are :purr: fect Step six can be done with apple cider vinegar or white vinegar - they are my cleaners of choice. The avian disinfectant is fine too :fingerscrossed: Dont use lemon juice as its sticky and will attract ants. Dont use any disinfectants you get from the supermarkets.
  16. I am so sorry. Personally i would take Tilly to the vet and get her assessed. she might just have something minor that can be treated. I would hate to see her die of something that is easily treated. If the vets tell you she is terminal, then you will have a tough decision to make. :fingerscrossed:

egg and biscuit mix is not hand rearing food. But it is okay to use as a part of their soft food. what you are giving them sounds great. make sure there is some calcium in the diet too and cooked egg is a great to give them too.
  18. I was going to say recessive pied too.... its a very lightly marked one if it is... Have you any pictures from behind that show the wings?
  19. Hello and welcome, Lovely clear photos, Your yellow budgie is a male
  20. Good to hear she passed the egg safely. I agree with the others, there is nothing wrong with tossing away an undeveloped egg. Giving her calcium in her diet is vital right now as she is still growing herself and the egg/s will be taking essential calcium directly from her bones I hope she doesn't lay and more.
  21. If you have just one inside he will bond really closely to you and will make a lovely companion for you. Pick your favorite and put the other one out side. Otherwise, just keep them both inside

  24. I'd love a bird room with an a/c in it too MB It was 47 yesterday (too hot to have a bath in water that temp) and it was 45 today. It's almost 9pm and still 40.3 degrees. I have too many birds to bring inside so have been misting them every hour or so with the hose, rigging up shade cloth and hanging wet sheets (thanks to Kaz's great advice) so mine are doing okay for now. Still lots of heat to go though so hopefully they all pull though.
