  1. I tired getting shots of her but she is VERY lively and flighty - although not bitey - she has been handled before :budgiedance: - She let me fix her blood feather and use pressure untill the bleeding stopped. This photo was taken after all of that, hence the grumpy look hehe. She is very pretty and her wing markings are lovely - I feel they are stronger than BG's too and i will post pics of her tomorrow afternoon for sure
  2. I do that with my canary cage - Totally forgot that method - works a treat!!!
  3. Thanks Guys I am hoping she and BG are going to be the first show type (of many) breeding that i do :budgiedance: I would like to sllllooooowwwllllyyy eaze my way into it - I would like to join a club some time too, any recomendations? Thanks for the birthday wish lonebudgie - the kids spoilt me with a garbage bin... yes really... but its one to put my seed in - i have moved from 10kg bags of seed to 40kg bags hehehe, so i needed to upsize the bin
  4. This is my BG And this is the hen i bought for him today It's not a good shot of her. She is a yellow faced grey spangle with a green 07 ring - she was not in the mood to pose for the camera as she broke a blood feather while freaking out in the quarantine cage I am hoping to get some good pics of her tomorrow when she is feeling a bit better

I don't use gritt. I used to have some mixed in my Trill seed but the seed has gone down hill and i now buy seed from a feed place :hap: It's great to know that the birds don't actually need the grit after all :hap: Oh, and your friend with her highly "Skilled" pigeon breeding hubby - Pigeons dont hull seeds that is why they DO need grit - budgies don't!!! I hope you can convince her :hap:
  6. This is my Spunky (AKA "Ying Yang" - because his face markings are like a ying yang :hap: )

He is being a great foster dad They are spending their first night inside and the three of them (Latte, Cookie and Barney) are all roosting together (with full crops) on the perch
  13. I was searching rainbow budgies today too ****weird psychic stuff happening heheheh**** They are so pretty - I found that they are technically a blue (any blue to violet) golden face Opaline. Here is a Link
  14. That sounds like a creative idea. Birds normally prefere the top boxes and will tend to fight over the better box - location, location hehehe. I however, had my colony breeding setup all wrong, but it still worked for me I seem to have very placid birds hehehe. I have finished colony breeding now
  15. Hello and welcome You have had some great advice from Kaz and Neat I just want to add. It might be a good idea to look up "Egg binding" in the FAQ's too. I had an older hen who laid eggs with no male and she got egg bound. I know your girl is fine at the moment, but knowing the symptoms could be good, especially if she is an older bird.
  16. adorable :wine
  17. OH WOW!!! He is STUNNING with his colours!!!!! :wine

I said EGGFOOD Liv not that packet muck. Dont you have real eggs in your house ? :hap: :hap: :hap: :hap: Actually i don't have any eggs at the moment - we are not real egg eaters and the only ones i have are the last budgie eggs from my breeders hahaha - don't get me started on budgie egg ommlits :hap: :hap: I have cheated - I have now moved Barney inside with Latte and Cookie Best of both worlds - He is doing the hard work of feeding them and they are not going to turn wild from bing in the aviary Why would a male feed chicks that are not his???? - Barney is really good with them too
  22. You crack me up everytime you say that Kaz!!! :hap: :hap: I agree too about the perches etc You said they come from a petshop. Are they clean???? Could bugs, mites, viruses etc be lurking in the wood????
  23. I am so sorry for your losses That was a shocking time for breeding - The end of that horrible heat wave, then the temperature dropped 20*C in 2 days and the nights were a freeeeeeezing 8*C!!! I was really worried about my birds at this time too. My clicks were older so i was lucky and didn't loose any. Your Special Bunny looks like a real cutie
  24. WOW!!! They are really awesome photos!!!!
  25. I don't know if the birds are fallow or Lacewing. I haven't picked them up yet. I hope to head down on wednesday and grab them... I can ask them if they breed fallows while i am there and let you know
