Lady Behaving Badly.
It's horrible to see :hap: it looks painful! I can not find a spot to move her where she will be out of reach of the kids and out of sight of the aviary. I might do some budgie shuffling and empty my small aviary, so i can pop her in there instead. She is already thin. I'd like to breed with her later in the year so i don't want her to loose any more condition.

Newspaper?
My birds totally adore this toy. I make it myself using all items that i know are non toxic and budgie safe. They reward me for my efforts by having a ball ripping it to shreads

Comfortable...
He is still a baby, I find the younger budgies tend to nap more, so he might just want some time to take a nap

Lady Behaving Badly.
Oh thats good to hear. I was starting to think she might have been a little loopy. She came from an aviary and she can see all the others in my aviary, so I will move her to a new spot in the morning and hopefully it will settle the problem

Yes she is on her own, she is in quarantine so she has 3 more weeks at least on her own.

Lady Behaving Badly.
I have had Lady for 1 week and i am concerned about her behaviour. She is a lovely young (07) hen , but she dose this thing where she almost rips her legs from their joints when doing over 180 degree turns while holding onto the cage wire. She is doing this all the time, along with hard chewing on the wire. Is she bored? Is she playing? Is she nutty? I have seen birds do this on the odd occasion when confined to a small cage, but not to this extent. She likes to do it most when i come over to her and look at her. I have felt her breast bone and she is under weight. Her poops are normal and she seems fine other wise. I have tried distracting her with millet, natural leaves and branches to chew, toys etc. - she ignores them all. I don't want her to loose more weight because she is too "busy" to eat.

Can This Be An Abscess
I am giving that antibiotic to BG at the moment - because its an oral antibiotic, i don't think it will be suitable while Neat's hen is feeding a chick.

Can This Be An Abscess
Hmmmmm... :hap: That smudge of yellow/orange - Poor bird, it looks sore. is it infected? is there any puss? Sorry i cant get much from that picture other than its colour I have just looked at your picture again at 10% of the size. It looks much clearer when small. I still think it looks infected to me :hap: I hope you can get her to a vet, she may need an antibiotic ointment

Mice In Aviary
If you are worried about the look of your aviary, I like Kaz's idea of the clear perspex :hap: Or use a finner wire mesh, or double over the wire mesh you have already to reduce the hole size?? all i can think of otherwise is POISON - used with a very desirable bate and place far away from your aviary.

Please Beware.. It Can Go Wrong.
Great news Daz :hap:

What Are These Marks?
:hap: :hap: :hap: Thats really funny!!!! I can see his BVSc he has - the office assured me he was an avian vet He did a thorough job with my birds and also showed me how to crop feed - he said he has 20 years experience with birds and sees sick birds all the time I just know not to take any of my birds there for a wing clip hahaha.

Mice In Aviary
I have the floor of my aviary paved and no mice can get inside, the little buggers try to get in, but they cant. I have bates set up in the garden (out of reach of pets and kids) which keeps their numbers way down too I'd love to see a picture - the garden beds sound nice :hap:

What Are These Marks?
No i didn't see Christo, and I was really worried about seeing a regular vet too. I saw a Dr Rickman from vets4pets at Salisbury park. He was great and it turned out that he was an avian vet and has lots of experience with birds. I would recommend him
