  1. Great news!!! You will have quite a selection to choose from :budgiedance: I hope one of them is a boy!
  2. He has had a dirty vent for 2 days and tonight his poops turned pale like the ones they get with pancreas issues or infections I have been getting some wonderful help from Kaz :angel1: We are starting to think he is just not eating enough or has a tummy bug.... so i can probably down grade the urgency a bit **PHEW!!!** I still need to find a good avian vet in SA though. Any recommendations will be much appreciated
  3. Cookie is sick. I need recomendations for a GOOD avian vet in SA who will work Sundays Thanks, Liv
  4. That is going to look AWESOME!!! totally jealous!
  5. WOW thats a huge aviary!!!! Monty and Bella are growing so FAST!!! They are adorable What a wonderful day you had
  6. I'm so sorry for your losses Don't feel bad Thank you for speaking out. I now know to remove the corn with the other fresh food leftovers.
  7. He looks lovely..... Is his face a pinky/yellow colour????
  8. :hap: Have a FANTASTIC holiday Maesie!!! I will miss you Liv xxoo
  9. It is hard to say. Like people, birds are all different sizes so what is healthy, over weight or underweight is hard to tell. I have never actually weighed my birds before. Did you use digital scales?
  10. My thoughts exactly i agree too haha
  11. **Liv** replied to mag's topic in Avian Veterinarians
Spike had all his secondary flights cut almost to the skin and had the 5 flight feathers on each wing intact. :hap: hence he could still fly quite well. I cut the primary flight feathers for Mag on Thursday and Spike is now happily exploring the floor rather than the ceiling
  12. I love the name Gypsy, but i will never use that name again as i have noticed a trend with pets called Gypsy not living very long. I knew of 5 different Gypsy's, all different types of animal and owned by 5 different people. I feel the name is jinxed
  13. Your Hen sounds completely normal - not vicious I can not see why at 12 weeks old the parents would harm the baby at all. How big is your cage??? Can you take any pictures of your cage and birds? I have had a baby pecked before, i find its normally done in the nest box or just after fledging, but stops after the baby is weaned. Normally done by a bird that had it done to them as a chick too.

I will keep looking for that other thread....
  15. **Liv** replied to toohp's topic in Budgie Talk
I had this exact same debate with another member a few weeks ago (i was on your side and i lost hehe). I can't find the thread at the moment, but trust me, stay overs and play dates are a no no with out 30days quarantine. The birdy boarding house sounds horrible and I wouldn't use it
  16. **Liv** replied to toohp's topic in Budgie Talk
Any stay overs still require strict quarantine

I agree with Dave and his advice. She will be fine
  18. I am so pleased Piper is doing well :hap: She is a very lucky girl to have you as her owner. The only thing i would add is she will probably need regular worming (if she's not already). I have a budgie named Scooter who was given to me disabled - he has rickets and had lost all strength in his legs and toes. He slept in his seed dish and could only perch of flat perches. I have been massaging his legs and moving his toes (bit like physiotherapy) and he is now perching on round perches like all the other birds after only 4 weeks :hap: I know rickets and nerve damage are very different, but its amazing how tough these little guys are, and how quicky they bury them selfs in our hearts
  19. WOW!!! That is really coool I wonder if its real or a photoshop creation though...
  20. **Liv** replied to deb's topic in Food And Nutrition
I normally use one or the other, but thats just me. I worry about over doing it as they get lots of vitamins and minerals from all the fresh food they get too.

hahahaha!!!! Forget Weight watches!! Lots of people would loose weight with your disgusting information hahaha - you could make a living out of it! for all of those where dieting dosen't work, just gorse them out so much they cant stand the sight of food hahaha. okay ... how did this topic get from innocent shell grit, to cannibalistic grotesque weight loss techniques hahaha Sorry Deb
