Omg Kaz...did You Notice?

That is an awesome photo!!! and you caught her first flight on film - just like a toddlers first steps- Beak Build Up
If you can post a photo that would be a great help. The part of the budgies beak you are referring to is called the cere, it is the fleshy part around the budgies nostrils. The white build up on the beak would be scaly face, which is little mites that burrow into the skin and beak area creating a white crust and a flaky look. It is completely treatable, but left untreated will cause the beak to deform.- Life Of Molly
It is quite normal for budgies to shred the paper in the bottom of their cage - Both my males and females do it - Its great fun for them Female budgies do lay occasionally without a male, and it can become a problem too. but for now Molly is just playing and it should stay that way if you keep changing the paper every day and not giving her anywhere to nest P.s Well done on your exams- Omg Kaz...did You Notice?

Yes (only half and i have not met him) Do you have a great grandparent still alive?- Burning Essential Oils With A Budgie In The House.
Welcome back Personally i can not see harm in 100% pure natural oils such as, eucalyptus, rose and mint etc. I would steer clear of the cheap imitation oils though, and don't make them too strong. Cheap Oils, scented candles and pot purri give me instant headaches so i don't use them. The natural oils don't give me headaches so they are possibly less toxic than the imitation ones??- Game: Go Fish

go fish Do you listen to music as you work?- Update On Blue
Don't be tempted to do it yourself as it will be cut though the correct part of the bone/joint and it needs to be done by a vet. I wouldn't do that... Come on. Phew. I didn't think you would but you did have me worried for a moment As AV said, there are some out there who would!! :fear !!! It would be good to see the photos you have - I am so pleased he is doing better!! You did a great thing saving him from your aunt- My Small Home-made Indoor Aviary

Being a toe, I would think it only needs some local antithetic, rather than a general antithetic so it shouldn't be to costly.- I Caught A Birdy Yawn...
That is adorable Elly- Update On Blue
I am pleased to hear Blue is doing better. Poor boy. He sounds like he is managing really well with his disability too - he will get more and more confident as time goes on and one day he won't even notice he is missing a toe. The toe that is not closing up may need to be checked by the vet - if there is a blood supply it will not die and drop off. The vet might need to amputate the toe to stop future infection - especially now that he is off his antibiotics. I am sorry to hear that some bad things happened - I hope you are okay.- Budgie Poo....again!
That good that he is better(ish) What seed/brand do you feed him?? has his diet, seed type or brand changed in the last few weeks? You said that his vent is not dirty - a dirty vent is normally the first sign of a sick bird so his poop issue could be diet related.- Game: Go Fish
Go Fish. Do you bite your nails?- Wobbly Budgie
Sounds like rickets to me. Here is a photo of my Scooter - sorry its a really lousy photo. This is scooter now after calcium supplements and foot massages.- Neats Found Facts
