  1. Hello and welcome Bert looks like a boy to me - as for his colour, i am not good in that area, but he could be a dilute or a grey wing. Bert is adorable by the way
  2. I am so pleased that there doesn't seem like anything wrong I think there is a level of tail bobbing that is okay. They could be a little stressed or a bit run down, but are otherwise okay. I think that tale bobbing along with other symptoms is the bigger issue.
  3. I am so pleased they are all getting better and doing well!! You have done an amazing job over the last few weeks!!!
  4. Nor I
  5. Good luck at the vets. I hope it's nothing serious
  6. She will need to go to an avian vet and be diagnosed, as it will most likely need antibiotic treatment.
  7. He is a pretty colour isn't he. My first impression was he was moulting. He looks young to me about 6-8 months :hap:
  8. That's a really cool (i mean HOT) heater :hap: Will it dry out the air or is the ceramic part allow the moisture to remain?? hmmmm I am now going to look into insulation for my little shed - will have to see if i will have enough room for it :hap:
  9. I am so pleased to hear some good news with your overall situation :hap: Roll on 30th Aug :hap:
  10. Oh no!! I hope she is okay :hap: I dont know anything about hand feeding chicks. Perhaps she is losing that 'baby' behavior and wants to move to the fledgling stage and sit out of the cage with you. You are her mum and she wants to follow you.... Thats normally what fledglings do isn't it???
  11. Well done neat, don't feel bad, your birds are doing the ---> :hap:

  13. :hap: anytime....you are coming soon with MB arent you ? :hap: Liv and AV bird slaves for Kaz :hap: :hap: while working in the birdroom - "one chick for Kaz, two chicks for us, one chick for Kaz, two chicks for us"
  14. OMG!!! what a night!! you have a very good vet that would come out at 1am!! Well done for being so in-tune with your birds and acting so fast. My thoughts are with you and Boof - I hope he will pull though. My Lady nearly bled out once in my hand, she had ripped a flight blood feather and it was reduced to a really short spurting quill that i could barely grasp with the tweezers - Poor girl, it took her 3 days of heat and rest to recover from the blood loss, but she is fighting fit now
  15. No i think that when i look at yours AV and then look at mine Looks brilliant Kaz! When can I move in???
  16. Optimum breeding age for a hen is between 1-4 years. There are exceptions, and/or ones that will never be any good at breeding. The show type hens often need to be around 18 months before they are mature enough to raise chicks properly - it really just depends on the hen and her attitude. With your 04 hens, again it depends on the breeding quality of the hen and how they have bred in the past. Last year, before i knew better, I bred my "super mum" who was 7 years old. She never had any problems and has been the best mum in my flock so far - she is now retired and being chatted up by her son

:hap: I'm so boring! I have my laptop on the breakfast bar in the family room/kitchen/dining room/study (open plan living ) and come back and forth to the computer throughout the entire day and night. It's great as i can be on here while cooking dinner, watching the kids, cleaning the house, taking care of the birds, writing my scripts and doing my web development I am literally lost if the internet is down
  18. It's tomorrow today hahaha my son says that every morning
  19. Last time i went there (in April) , there were dead birds in the aviaries and cages, lots of sick and dieing ones too. the water was GREEN AND STINKING in all cages and there was no food left!!!! I was so upset and horrified by what i saw, i complained to the staff who were sitting (and laughing while) having coffee in the back room. Their excuse for the putrid conditions was they were closed the previous day!!! water does not turn green a foul smelling ever night!!!! I am still furious about it!!!!!! It makes me feel sick just thinking about it!
  20. Thats great news. I look forward to seeing the pictures and i will head out a get one for my birdroom

   That is totally adorable!!!!!
  22. I use warm water and a face washer sroking in the direction of the feathers. If the food is still stuck, you might need to dip her gently into the water to soften it more. If the water is the right temperature she shouldn't mind. Then hold her close to your body until she is fully dry I have not used soap before, but a baby soap may be okay to use??
