  1. just thought i would let your all know that i have decided not to paint my bird box pink I have spent the last 2 days making it and hubby says that i am crazy to paint it. So if you see someone else with a pink box, it wont be me hehe. Mine is now just plain boring natural pine
  2. Here is the photo of the hens back http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q401/bu...MYTAYLIA056.jpg Looks like a Opaline Spangle to me
  3. Yes I agree What you are saying Dave, Kaz and Neat. She is tucked up for the night, so i will put her back in the aviary in the morning. I certainly don't want to make her worse I look forward to trying her with a male in 6 weeks or so
  4. Hmmmm You have made a good point Dave. The reason i put her in early is i wanted her to calm down before i introduce the male as when she was in quarantine she stressed for the full 30 days. I did't actually think that i could compound the issue further by putting her in the cabinet early. My thinking process was that if it takes her a month to settle, then I dont want her and her partner to be a month behind the other pairs.

Go Fish. Are you addicted to anything (other than budgies )
  6. The flight feathers will come - mine are going through a first moult too and ever now and then a flight feather pops through - a moult can take weeks, sometimes months to complete. okay thats so it not just because they cut her wings far to low No, the lenght of the cut flight will not impact. All the flight feathers will slowly fall out one by one and be replaced, one by one too. You really notice it when their wings are cut - I am waiting for my tiel to grow his flights back too - its taking for EVER!!!
  7. I like the idea of cages too. I can buy them from my local shop for about $30 each - I was going to buy a heap of them on the weekend, but they had sold out. I am keeping my options open though as i am also looking at some second hand (wooden) cabinets - It will all depend on what fits best in my little shed
  8. She has taken a liking to Lilly, but i dont want to give Lady the wrong idea hehe and I am not ready to give her a male yet - breeding her without back up foster parents on hand would be a no no. If all else fails.. I will pop her back in the aviary until i am ready to breed and just see how she goes as a final attempt
  9. I would think there are... I have never looked into birds with phobias, i know dogs and cats get them... its interesting though. I have just peeked at her again and she is sitting quietly now. She can hear the aviary birds, but she can't see them. However, at the moment there are bulldozers across the road so she probably can't hear the aviary birds right now.... Maybe i need to give her a radio to block out the noise of the others???
  10. really...?? Where???
  11. This is an old photo of her when she was in quarantine but she is doing the same thing... It breaks my heart to see her to this

  13. An update on my wacko hen. Lady has been in the cabinet for 24 hours now and I just looked at her though the window and saw her doing her usual flips on the side of the cage. She looks like she is going to rip her legs off when she does it

That is good news. It is hard to find carers who will care for our pets as we would. Good luck with your new pet sitter. Thanks for the update

What about bread crumbs in the pantry???

  22. **Liv** replied to deb's topic in Budgie Talk
Try some soaked seed with moist wholegrain bread all mixed together if you don't have any soaked seed on hand, just try the wet bread. Egg and biscuit mix is mostly all bread crumbs anyway.
