  1. That makes me cry to see what you had to do to your beautiful old car - and so annoyed that they made you do it for a bit of FLUFFFFFFFF I hope you get her home soon. (((Hugs)))
  2. WOW!! You have beautiful birds!!! I am definitely coming to visit you one day
  3. Hello and welcome Marlo Charlie sounds very young and if he was still in the nest box when your friend gave him to you then the chances are he will not be able to eat on his own A budgie is normally 6-7 weeks old when weaned. If you can post a picture of Charlie's face (with no flash) we should be able to tell his gender and a photo of his body will allow us to tell you his age Best of luck with your new baby, Keep us posted and you are in the right place to get all the answers you need

YES!!! ( and in the middle of nowhere with no one else in sight too!!!! ) Are you claustrophobic???
  5. There is no such thing as too many questions. That is what we are here for Your breeding cages are nice and large (about the size of my small aviary) and a pair of budgies would breed happily in both In fact, they are so large, you could divide the smaller one in half and the larger one into quarters and get 6 breeding cabinets out of them
  6. She spent the night inside with heat and calcium. This morning she was still fine so i have put her back in the aviary. She is looking around for her mate (who has been put in the other aviary with a few other randy males) and I will be keeping my close eye on her.

go fish. Do you consider yourself ambitious??
  8. My understanding is that hand reared birds dont breed as well as parent raised ones do. I like Ikon's method

Yes - pulled a calf from a cow Have you ever witnessed a death??
  10. **Liv** replied to Elly's topic in Competitions
Yes (for a change) Are you a dog person?
  11. I look forward to hearing she is safe and well at your house - hope it all goes well today
  12. I am so excited for you!! It is going to be brilliant when it is done!! I really look forward to your leadlights too, they will be awesome and you are so talented
  13. Everything sounds great Maesie They will be ready at 8 weeks for sure. its only iffy between the 5-7 weeks old stage. Wow they grew so fast!! Do you have any photos???
  14. I would say it depends on how well they know how to do it and how much practice they have had. I aviary bird freaks out if you clip their wings and they cant fly. But a bird who has always been clipped from a young age, and has used walking and climbing as their way to get around, then yes i would think they would find it scary to fly when they are not used to it.
  15. hehe.. Yep, I was bidding on him... that's okay it was a last minute choice to bid on him as i knew i wouldn't be able to stay and bid on the other i liked. Once I saw you bid i stopped - I think there was 3 people bidding on him - popular boy It's no problem though. I got another grey who should be great with Lady
  16. That's great news. I was hoping those marks were just shadows and yes, black leg ring is '08 and he is probably about 6-8 months old
  17. I have 2 inside tiels with 3 inside budgie, there are your regular minor disagreements about who sits where etc, but other than that they get along fine In the aviary i have 6 more tiels to about 35 budgies and there are no dramas at all - i even see the budgies preening the tiels If you think they get along and you want them inside, i'd say do it

You have a normal blue and a normal green - see you did know what they were I am not good with genetics, but green is dominant so i think you will get all green chicks. Dont be nervous to touch the babies, they are quite robust and can be handled from the moment of hatching
  19. Thanks, I really like her and She has really odd pied markings too. This is an old baby photo

That is a very cute photo Do you know what the parents are?? Be very careful with the cold. Until they get their thick down feathers they can chill easily. I rapped thick cloth around the outside of my breeding boxes last year and it helped keep the little ones warm. If you are wanting to tame a baby, the best thing is to start holding it for about 10 mins a day, from about 2-3 weeks old. They should be handled everyday anyway while being checked for splayed legs, rickets, caked food, messy feathers etc.
  21. The breeder I got him from puts plastic split rings on if they are split for anything and he hasnt got one on....but I will ask haha I like that. Split rings for a split bird She is stunning!!! I am not a normal green fan so the boy dosen't do it for me... but she is amazing!!!!! I cant wait to see the bubs!!!!
  22. Here she is inside, looking a lot better... perhaps her partner is wearing her out, or like Libby said - the cold weather ???
  23. Nice to have you back I look forward to lots of pictures
