The birds are rung at an early age. with experience you can look at the chisks feet and determine when to ring. I have never broken any bones in the chicks. I like the idea about the split rings I amy need to incorporate that in my birds.

I cabinet breed the show type budgies.

I am not convinced that colony breeding is the right way. My birds go down easily in the breeding cages. I generally see results within a couple of days (Bonding) and eggs are laid within 2 weeks.

Well the Plum eyes indicate cinnamon and they will be hens. They may be dominant pieds or spangles or normals.

I would not recommend linebreeding/inbreeding to a novice. I have read many article and sought many opinion on this subject. Done properly you can and will enhance the features of your birds but you need good knowledge of your birds genetic backgroung to even attempt this.

I came across this article about this time last year before I purchsed any birds. Prior to read this I was only interested in the pet type birds but this article made me think again. Thats when my thirst for knowledge about the show budgies started.

You could ask where the Victorian budgie association have theirs made up and can order them from the same place. In Sydney there is a place in Mortdale that make them to your order.
