you can get a powder ant repellent to sprinkle around the outside of the aviary... i dont see how it can harm birds if it's far enough away you could also try putting a tray of water then the dish with your fresh foods in the middle of the tray of water? i dont see them swimming to get to it.... my birds like a tray of water with fresh grasses mixed into it? they bathe and eat at the same time! quite fun to watch also... or theres always quails... i dont seem to of had any insect in my avairy for months since i've had quails they're cheap as chips too or free if ya want some i had 4 then she had babies so it became 8 after selling some off now i've got another 6 chicks under a hen atm! so if you need any dont hesitate to ask hahaha

i'd also just say grey cinnwing spangle... they're definatly slight brown in that second picture
  11. for my knowledge of what colours you'll get from them i think the options are greens, grey-green and grey... not positive on that also depends on splits
  12. yeps all the baby girls will have the opaline like him and all the boys will be split to opaline
  13. hey guys atm i'm currently hand rearing two chicks from hatching (not by choice) they're 6 and 4 days old now but one (4days old) keeps swallowing air into his crop.... it's not a small amount when he's being fed it's more a whole crop full that he inflates by himself whenever there is room for it... is it bad for the bub? i remove the air ever time i catch it with it and have tried all different things to stop it ( thickening food, thinning food, lying him on his back, lying him on his front) any info would appreciated thanks libby
  14. Doink i've got tommy's look alike :hap: and the youngest!!!!
  15. woops my bad:S ? "light green spangle fallow" :hap:
  16. absoloutly gorgeous kaz!! i love your grey dominant pied bub the best :hap:
  17. oh the fun of guessing genetics of a bird well from what i can see it looks like it's got cinnamon spangled markings on the upper half of it's wing.... so unless it is a fallow dominant pied like KAZ said i'd just call it s spangled lace wing masking dominant pied? but then again you're the expert norm :hap: hehe look forward to seeing the sexing of this bub it's gorgeous
  18. yeah cloudy's a spangled recessive pied:) i'll answer for tracy :hap: i have many pics of her birds on my comp he's a cutie some of his last clutch i beleive came out cinnamon spangle recessive pieds
  19. hehe gorgeous!!!! how do u get them to hold out the same one wing each time... now that's skill i baggs the littlest cinnamon one
  20. Quick question.... didnt someone mention earlier in these posts that the mother shows through cinnamon and to produce a cinnamon baby the father had to be split also which he obviously was.... so my question is... wouldn't that mean that the cinnamon baby could be of either sex? Normal / Cinnamon cock x Cinnamon hen = Cinnamon cocks Normal / Cinnamon cocks Cinnamon hens Normal hens
  21. they're very cute! gotta love your little cinnamons
  22. yeah i'd have said yf2 cobalt/mauve spangle personally
  23. what a gorgeous little bubby i have one just like him named saffire:P
  24. wow what a lively bunch gorgeous
  25. i'd say it's got cinnamon or greywing also on my comp?
