French Moult
thanks KAZ umm the baby is still in the nest with the others should i remove it? none of them seem to show any signs of feather plucking there's no blood on him anywhere and i can't see any actual broken ones... only normally growing ones or pins coming through... again presumably... i heard it's contageous and he's in a nest with 4 other chicks... the youngest around 8 days oldish... if it's a concern for the other babies health i'll remove and hand feed him in a second cage i dont beleive it to be the hen or the cock feather plucking... he has no blood on him anywhere and the other chicks are also fine but i'll keep a steady eye on them as they're inside anyway.... what vitamins would you recommend to help the little tike :oliveb: thankyou so much :ausb:

Yellowface Gene
okay will do:) the three options for parents are as follows yf2 recessive pied hen x dark green spangle/blue cock (5 other babies produced... 3 normal greens a normal spangle and a yf2 spangle) normal violet hen x sky blue spangle cock.... unknown splits for either grey green normal hen x light green cinnamon wing opaline cock... unknown splits again either way the baby definatly came from one of their nests i just have nfi which one i'll definatly mark chicks somehow next time the egg was marked but once it hatched the same time as 3 other chicks we lost track ah wells doesnt change the outcome still a gorgeous bubby thanks for your help nerwen

Colour Questions
hi guys one of my recent nest of 5 are fledging and i was wondering if you could help me out the mothers a yf2 recessive pied and father a normal green spangle split to blue.... of the 4 chicks with enough feathers to tell i have one yf2 spangle 1 green spangle 1 normal green but the last feathered chick is confusing me he appears to have alot of blue in his feathers around his lower stomach and legs but yet appears green on the feathers on his crop... his other sibling the normal green had a small amount of blue near his stomach and legs but no where near as much as this one... is it probably a normal green maybe split to blue or a yf2 but yet to develop fully? also in comparison between the two normals the one with more blue appears to have more yellow through his wings and the green colour that merges with the blue is alot lighter than the other normal green. let me know any thoughts on it i'd really appreciate it :dbb1: thanks guys :ausb: i'll try to get some pics later to upload for you

Death Of The Parent Cock Bird Just Before Eggs Hatch
i can't really give you advice because i'm not an expert but i once had a hen who's partner died when she had new born chicks she looked after all well as they hatched and kept them all fed up until about 2-3 when she abandoned the nest and chicks and didnt feed them... one died of starvation before we'd checked them that day and the others were close to it... but we rescued them and hand reared them the rest of the way.. i've been told a hen can look after chicks on her own it just makes it harder... but i'd definatly say keep an eye on her and them so it doesnt happen to you what happened to ours good luck with it though and let us know how it goes libby

Bar Headed Hen
yeah but no real point showing it she looks exactly like a baby aside from the fact she's in breeding condition and has laid and not lost her bars over the months i've had her she's a cinnamon wing clearflight... not sure whether grey or mauve looks grey on belly but slight blue tinge to her rump which makes me say maybe mauve i dont have a picture of her on this area of the comp but i'll get a new picture tonight or tomorrow when i cantch her out of her nest to show you all p.s. her laid eggs are fertile

Bar Headed Hen
hey guys i was wondering if you could help.... a while back i purchased a budgie( few months ago now)... she was fully grown then but still had bars on her head... she's since starting breeding but hasnt moulted her bars in the few months i've had her... is it possible it wasnt actually a baby at all but a bird that won't lose it's bars? as a precaution all eggs have been taken off her incase she may indeed be still a baby... but i dont think so because she's been here for a while and not lost them... any thoughts? oh and incase ur were gonna ask yes she's gone trhough a moult before
