  1. Hi guys, Just thought i'd share some pics of my gorgeous bubba honey... he was hand reared by us from a young age... not positive on days as he was large but his eyes were still closed... we took him in due to his mum being a feather plucker and to lighten the load of our friend rearing the other 3 bubs... We're not sure on sex but we're hoping for a cock so we call it a "HE" his parents were an albino(mum) and lutino(dad) He's a real character, loves playing frizbee with us (he's the frizbee) and to get his dose of head scratches and have snuggles with his parents. Since he's learnt to fly he has run of the house... he was going to be an aviary bird but we've decided to keep him a tame inside bird until he's atleast old enough for breeding and to stay tame once out there. Here's some pics of him since we've had him - When we first got him... How Precious!!!! - Honey being a Fatty Boomba!!! Look at the size of his crop!!!! - Getting Big now!!! - his head scratches! - Sleeping in daddies hands!!! gorgeous or what!? - sleeping in mummies hands and getting scratches! he's skillful - Loving his nap time!!! - WHAT YOU LOOKING AT!! - Mid-flight! - giving mummy kisses - playing frizbee with dad!!!! - BOO!!! i'm a ghost!!!!
  2. I havent found any of my greywings to be more expensive than my other birds... it's the places you go where the price changes, not generally the mutation unless they're greens... my skyblue greywing was ten dollars as a bub from a local enthusiast... whereas the two i bought from a pet shop were 25 each... all depends on where you go and size of bird of course... it's a given show types will be more expensive
  3. i'd also say it's opaline by how light the small amount of barring appears :rip:
  4. i'll keep it sweet and simple She sounds like an utter nut job with no life of her own so has to be the person to create havock in everyone elses... as for the man who handled your birds without proper need, he does sound (like someone already said) as though he was looking for the whole "any excuse'll do" problems just think of it this way... your birds were well cared for so it showed your neighbour up to be a nosey parker and it showed the man who came out to be a T**sPot Way to show them
  5. Yes Libby that's what I would be doing…I like those Yellow birds with dark markings. Do you have another Green Fallow that you can breed her to, to get more Yellows? I bought one recently that has Normal markings & is Pied also, but nice Yellow with Brown markings. I can't wait to breed it. Sure do Norm... she's in a cabinet with an olive fallow atm and we have another pair down atm also that hen is much prettier than the cinnwing hen, she's such a light yellow almost a pale colour... we also picked up a recessive pied fallow but he/she is only a few months old - the olive fallow cock - the cinnwing fallow hen with the recessive fallow I couldnt find pics of the other pair with the gorgeous hen and the much better looking cock but i'll get some to upload soon
  6. congratulations! Well Done! hoping for good news from here on out for you
  7. you'll get all greens half dominant pied half normal... cock chicks will be split to opaline all chicks split to recessive and i beleive with a dominant pied cross recessive there's always a chance of a DEC and i know nothing about the clearwing gene but pretty sure it's a recessive gene so more than likely all bubs will be split to clearwing any other pssobilities also with splits already in the parents
  8. if you're chasing a pet type bird our "sunnie" on this forum breeds wonderful pet budgies... she's a good friend of mine and i know many people who've bought her birds have been very satisfied
  9. yeps i know she's opaline i was just making out a point of how differently "cinnamon" she is compared to my other 7 normal green fallows only bad thing about her norm.. is she's a feather plucker... kinda sucks, but hey... there's always fosters right
  10. I have a cinnamon fallow hen brought from a well known fallow breeder over here only a few weeks ago or so... she looks very different to your fallow... even though she's of show type and green series it's clearly more cinnamon than your fallow... I have only one blue fallow bird who is a violet fallow and her wings look much liek yours although like nerwen said yours definatly looks spangled compared to my girl i personally would say your bird is just a normal fallow but it doesnt matter... fallow genes in my opinion whatever form they may be in are good genes She probably just seems more of a cinnamon coloured marking due to being spangle also... so if not sure... Test Breeding it is just a quick question too... by cheek patches being brown as you say do you mean throat spots? or actual cheek patches? - the cinnwing green fallow hen - the violet fallow hen
  11. Cheese and Macaroni definatly Dominant pieds? Look like recessive at my end?
  12. yeah it's a YF2 cobalt opaline what a little cutie! :budgiedance:
  13. only three :hap: that's her lot... although all are fertilised and she did well they had to be fostered and replaced with duds as she was leaving the nest too often...
  14. Good thinking to bring this back up KAZ :hap: i know a few people i've mentioned it to woudlnt beleive me... so great evidence of the facts here :rip:
  15. hahaha gorgeous! i always loved the hunchback or notredame HAHAHA! too cute!
  16. woops forgot to mention... your green opaline is a YF2 opaline
  17. from the first pair you'll get all blue series babies i beleive it's 50/50 yellow face outcome when only one parent is YF??? not sure all babies will be opaline and cocks will be split to cinnamon second pair yellow faced opalines 50% normal yf opaline 50% spangle opaline yf's probably missed alot... but thats what i'd expect from them good luck gorgeous birds
  18. french moult as far as i know develops only when in the nest? so if this isnt a baby from the nest i highly doubt it if it's only occured now...? perhaps going through a moult or had a fight?
  19. yep yep definatly a good warning! my flock of 80+ budgies 13 cockatiels 2 lorikeets 5 lovebirds 1 sulfur cocky 1 galah and 8 quails all started from one budgie 8 years ago :fear
  20. i use the ice trick for alot of my animals too.. the dogs are even so spoilt as to be fed icy-poles during the extreme heat waves... one thing i found is to freeze the fresh fruit... they love how cold it is! ones i find work best for birds and rabbits (in the same avairy) are watermelon and corn... other than that an icey tray of water and grass they love also :fear
  21. haha stereotypical me went for LIB :bluebudgie:
  22. i treat scaleyface in my aviary with a dap on ointment availiable from most pet stores... the one we use is called scale and mite remedy made by avian science... although alot of other members use invermection i beleive it's called which only takes one drop on the back of the head... but it more pricey and i find the one i use more readily avaliable :bluebudgie:
  23. aww! arent fallows gorgeous! your yellow faced violet looks like a hen to me... i have one in a cabinet who came to me with the same coloured cere - the scaley face and has since turned brown :bluebudgie: -- before -- after
  24. haha now you mention it pie we only sent our order off today with our membership joining application... bit slow for us too:S
  25. alot of my hens even whilst breeding change cere colour... they can still breed... cere colour is just an indicator not a strict rule to go by.... i think they seem like they'll work well. Just gotta wait out the hard yards of the bonding until you reap the benefits from the productions dont give up hope yet!
