  1. Are you sure he was three weeks old when you got him? as at that age they're still in pin feather stage but starting to open ? I think they'll be fine just keep them however you please... it's not impossible to tame them whilst together however it is a bit harder though good luck
  2. Ah yes sorry... should've called them their proper names... for some weird reason we west australians call them "weeros" maybe it's because we're so isolated from the rest of the country hehe
  3. Yes it says forbidden on my end :S

The five year old may be a little "over the hill" but the three should be okay for now... congrats on registering and i'm glad to have you aboard.... I suggest you get a breeding cage and a cock for your three year old hen, something that works well with her colours... read up on starting to breed in the FAQ section and any other info you need feel free to ask forum members that are experienced :yellowhead: once again... welcome
  5. First picture : on the left a normal blue cock on the right a YF2 cobalt spangle hen second picture : on the left is a YF2 looks to be opaline spangle and is a cock but would need pics of the back/wings to verify the opaline spangle on the right is a cobalt/violet opaline hen third picture : a normal light green, not sure on sex...
  6. Sorry about prior post clare... i thought you said it did have a mirror my bad :yellowhead: disregard the mirror comment
  7. Remove the mirror as the bird will become bonded to that instead of you. The biting/screaming at you is all normal behaviour which they go through... it will subside.... people on this forum put it down to "adolesence" so basically a teenager bird now. But the mirror can be a major problem as they become bonded with that instead of you, making a hand raiserd bird useless... best of luck with him i hope he settles down soon (which he will with persistance)
  8. Thanks for that Norm... a good read shame there's no fallow article i found though hehe
  9. Welcome suzii, colourann, bluebell II, sugar and angel :glare: Glad to have another budgie lover aboard :hap:
  10. wow, they definatly look golden faced don't they... i'm still unsure about it all though... i think golden face are just the lucky versions of yellow faced birds that got the brighter genes Does anyone have any articles on the goldenface gene to share?
  11. Very cute :hap: perhaps they could be friends one day :glare:
  12. I agree with lone budgie, the more females... the more problems ( Rule only applies to the budgie world of coruse) :glare: So i'd try for 1 female and three males... as 2 hens may become a bit viscious... but then again.. it could always work well :hap:
  13. Gorgeous Bec :glare: i love the photo's... caught paper beaked :hap:
  14. They looka wesome bec! if only i could draw like you :glare: i couldn't draw to save my life :hap: hehe Show some of your other works sometime :hap:

Wow what an excellent set up lone budgie! and such big spacious cabinets! I like the cardboard idea... will also show if ia hen isnt intrested so the pair can be replaced :budgiedance: I think your breeding season will go extremly well! good luck and keep us updated on pairs, chicks and eggs :hap:
  16. should to a mushy carrot and apple sauce frosting :budgiedance: or just mushy apple then decorate and write with carrot :hap:
  17. Haha bea, too cute!!! you're so creative with your birds :budgiedance: I wanna see the finished product! when it's a cake :hap: Very spoilt birds, they're lucky to have a "mum" like you... heck i'd wanna be your bird
  18. Hehe wow! she is a chubby bubby! still gorgeous none the less!!! Nice photos little one!
  19. Nope elly, no spraying or anything done i literally live on it and i'm home all the time, lived here for 18 yrs and see all .... my drive connects to the grass :hap: only things ever done at the park by coucil members are mowing, airation (where they make little holes in the ground), dog poo bin gets emptied, sprinklers (bore water) and tree lopping once a year... so no, it's all safe :fear I don't need leashes luckily enough... even though it's a dog park dogs tend to only be walked morning and night (there's a big group of old people every morning and night ) Why thank you karen i think the birds love their freedom as much as we like giving it We had leroy (sulfur crested cocky) out with us there the other day for a fly, he did quite well... He too has only a few feathers still missing from his last clip and when thrown up into the air flew down quite gracefully and well.. i think he enjoyed it also i'll try get some pics when we take him out today
