agree entirely with Kaz...Just try to make him as comfortable as possible until you're able to get to an avian vet, but one is definatly essential. Also make sure he's eating well and able to get to food and water even though he's not able to move to well.

i think you may encounter some problems by making this cage from wood. Not only from rotting or poisoning if they chew it, but water logging, the wood will probably deteriorate, harbour alot of bacteria and fall apart in time...

Preening alot is totally natural. It's part of their daily lives. We do our hair have a shower, paint our nails etc. They preen Only when feather loss, damage or other problems occur is it a worry. Just think of it as a recreational sport/relaxation time for them
