  1. Dad's not masking recessive pied Dave, he's split or else all bubs would've been recessives
  2. You've got albinos and the pieds are recessives Nice looking clutch there! Well done! By The Way your hen is a Recessive, not a Dom pied
  3. okay... i want... let me see... ALL OF THEM! haha
  4. I saw once on bourked backyard that budgies of yellow and green are meant to show flourescent in the night if they've stored up some kind of energy in their feathers? Lord knows if it's true or not though hehe
  5. Uv light is essential to birds to provide them with vitamin D, but the light you're desribing sounds like it illuminates white things like a black light? So I'd have no idea if it's safe or not
  6. or perhaps half a shorter life span hehe
  7. I've seen chicks get that after being dead for a reasonable period of time... looks like it's just "decaying" to me
  8. All chicks will be opaline, you'll get some opaline spangle, some opaline pieds, some opaline spangle pieds and depending if the cock is split or not depends if they're all all green or some blue
  9. It's not air in it's crop it's air sacs are inflating I've had one who's had it before and I'm pretty sure there's some others on here who have had it. When you put the crop needle down into it's crop when it's alive you can see how there's a layer between the crop and where the air sacs are, they go all the way up under the beak etc unlike the normal crop Vets can sometimes do a procedure to fix it and it can sometimes fix itself, but there's nothing really we can do for it and popping it with a pin aids it in no way as they'll just keep re-filling either way as my avian vet told me.

Aww Glen, accidents happen mate, stop kicking yourself... Like i told you in PM I've had a fair few freak accidents, including dropping an egg with a chick I was hatching out, the chick was alive but before i could get the egg, my Pomeranian woofed the whole thing down Some things just aren't fore-seeable Of course you're welcome to look at the pieds, i don't blame you in anyway for Dinozzo's death (loved the name By The Way, someones an NCIS fan ) big hugs mate xx
  11. Haha Definatly Very eco friendly! You're doing your part to save us When i had my rat problem last year I hired the exterminator with his high potency baits... dad washed his kayak out on the weekend and found it smelt funky... there was a dead rat in there rotting away!!! Haha MY BAD!

  18. Aww no way, I'd never rear a yellow to keep as a pet, wayyyy to special to be a pet, they need to re-produce, not be wasted being my sidekick LOL! A normal green or a blue suffice's me Colour doesn't change personality... Are the hens as tame? Although I'll still rear all your babies and his for free for kicks Don't get me wrong there LOL
