Well as many of you have seen on here i have my tame boy Honey... Honey is now 2 years old and there is STILL no sign of iris rings? all my other ino's have iris rings? Has anyone ever heard of this happening before? or why it happens? His parents were an Albino hen and a Lutino cock Photo of Honey as he looks today:

Beautiful birds there and you did the pictures great well done!
  10. Definatly two ways to see it... I look upon it as: if you're helping them to have a life then it's a good thing. Once all quality of life is gone, fair enough, but these look like happy healthy birds. Although they're not going to have a normal life span or feather growth I beleive with Liv's care of their feathers and a healthy diet they'll live a life worth living like any other bird. They're not in pain, just uncomfortable. When nature beleives it's time, that's when i beleive it's time. Having said that I am anti-euthinasia... so very bias  Keep up the wonderful work Liv, I'd be doing exactly the same thing.

  12. This topic has gone way off course. The reason for this forum being here is for us all to share a common interest in our passion. Budgies. Whilst sharing this passion one of the main aims is to gain and share our wealth of knowledge we have amongst us. There is no criticism here, only the passing on of knowledge and what is world wide seen as the correct practices with budgies and their breeding. Whilst we understand not everyone is able to supply the correct equipment/veterinary care and food etc to their birds we are here to support them in trying to supply what is within their reaches and curve their practices to those which are deemed best for their birds. We can't however force the practices upon them, but we can try to educate them to the best of our abilities. To those who believe that this is some kind of witch hunt against Marlon, you're completely incorrect. Each and ever member on this forum has the birds best interests at heart and those of you who believe otherwise are missing the point completely of being a member on this forum. We're here to aid those who have been wrongly informed and expand their knowledge. Yes, this may be seen as "criticism" but you need to remember that their is a very big difference between "criticism" and "CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM"
  13. Did i mention i hate you Kaz??? They're all beautiful! I'm very jealous! lol xxx

I hope he makes it also, he's a cutie... I can't see it being a feather duster by the look of his primary flights so far and how nice and neat they sit etc... the rest of his feathers look almost FD like, but I'd guess he's just fluffing up as a result of his attack?? I look forward to seeing him as he gets better. Remember to let the wound dry out and scab up, if you keep applying stuff it'll stay moist and take 10x the time to heal... salt water rinses will help it heal faster and aid in drying it up to create a scab.
  17. The general amont of time is 21 days if no signs of breeding then the pair are removed, but if i see signs in a pair i really want to go down i'll leave up to 28 or so
  18. So very sorry babe :thankyou: he was beautiful! Big hugs xxx

i agree, wonderful set up if in future you're able to move the breeding cages out of the aviary it will make it even better, but so far it's excellent! I really love the extra flight Your birds are very spoilt! :thankyou: Good job to you and hubby on excellent work!
  20. Yellow belly matt :thankyou: Once the chicks have died it's normal for them to look "bruised" if they look bruised before they're dead then it's odd and due to something else??... but the yellow belly is a sign of hatching before their "due date" so to speak as the yolk has not been fully absorbed and they're at high risk of infection and death... they barely ever make it unless the yolk is only just visible under the skin, but if it's on the outside... then they're pretty much set to die.
  21. Easiest thing to do is make some :thankyou:
  22. haha i know how you feel if i knew what i'm meant to look for i'd help but i'm still learning also
