  1. Great birds kaz! i love the third boy in! is he carrying violet?
  2. I used to have sand, however with my old aviary water used to run from under our patio into it and it turned to sludge poopy sludge! Now with how the aviary has changed it would probably work well for me, so in the coming new year i plan to try it again (after up and coming aviary re-construction) I say go for it! by the way your aviary is gorgeous!

Hi and welcome aboard Gorgeous birds!
  4. So sorry to hear I too had finally had enough with the issues of aviary breeding and converted to cabinets, i haven't looked back since
  5. So sorry for your loss xxx
  6. Aww the poor little thing! Fingers crossed they'll be okay
  7. Gorgeous both look to be cocks so far to me
  8. That's not the white down people refer to as opaline "white down" Once the chick has it's full down at roughly 2 weeks old before the pins set in then you can see the opaline down... but not now.
  9. yep Plum eyes Congrats on your little cinnamon girl!
  10. I like water under my boathouse lol Haha well, I don't suppose that would go down too well with budgies! Last thing we need is a mass-drowning on our hands :hap: Call out the lifesaving budgies ,throw in the life rings , man the pumps Too cute!!!!
  11. it looks to be plum eyed, which will mean either recessive pied (which I doubt) (DF spangle)which is impossible from that pairing or cinnamon, which is more likely So going by parents visual genetics and meaning the cock is split to cinnamon you're correct that is a hen. Having siad that that only applies if the eyes are infact cinnamon
  12. I like water under my boathouse lol :celebrate: Haha well, I don't suppose that would go down too well with budgies! :celebrate: Last thing we need is a mass-drowning on our hands :celebrate: :celebrate:

hi there and welcome :celebrate: Remember, if you don't want anymore unwanted babies just remove or don't add a nestbox :celebrate: Nowhere to lay means they go on the floor and more than likely break, OR they just won't lay at all once they realise they have nowhere to do it :celebrate: At the stage of being laid eggs are barely fertilised and are only a few cells inside it, not a living organism yet, so try not to feel too guilty about disposing of them :celebrate:
  14. Eucalyptus is meant to aid in the prevention of mites... Fresh branches and leaves. The birds bath on them/eat them and the mites prefer not to climb on them.. I beleive it's due to the eucalyptus oil???
  15. She's an opaline spangle :celebrate: Dark green or olive...
  16. By her parents she can only be a SF pied hen. Chicks from this two can be pieds and normals in both green and blue, all offspring split to greywing and some opaline hens in there with 50% of all chicks being yf So all up you can get a few mutations yf pied, yf pied opaline (hens), blue pied, blue opaline (hens) pied, opalines (hens), normals, yf opalines(hens) Yf normals and 50% of cocks will be split to opaline and remember all babies split to greywing. Now i'm starting to confuse myself, but i'm pretty sure that's all the mutations possible... without adding in what these birds could be split for
  17. I'd recommend just placing the chick back under the mother amongst the eggs. Make sure she's back in her nest box before you leave her. Before you do this though read this article and try to give the baby some "artificial" crop milk and make sure it's warm. http://forums.budgiebreeders.asn.au/index....showtopic=21548
